Hi,

Suposing one had £30 of Halfords vouchers needing spent. Can anyone recommend me some decent stuff to buy to keep the car clean and tidy? I am not into detailing in a big way i.e. machine polishing or anything - I would just appreciate some advice on the best way to keep the car looking nice to the average person inside and out. Starting off from me adopting the two bucket method (I can relate to that) where would I go from there in terms of decent washmit and shampoo? Have a few marks on the seats that I would like to remove - is there anything in Halfords worth buying to clean seets, etc? Car is nothing exotic or anything but a polish or similar would be nice as it is beginning to fade in places being a solid yellow. Just want to cover the basics really smile As I say am sticking to Halfords to spend the vouchers only!

Cheers,
Mark

I would sugget the following if you already have the two buckets and gritguards.

Buy a wash mitt, throw away the sponge.
Buy a decent drying towel, throw away a chamois.
Buy some Meguiars Gold Class shampoo.
Buy some Autoglym Super Resin Polish
Buy some Meguiars wax.
Buy an applicator pad and a microfibre or two.

Regarding the interior, I am sure Autoglym do an interior shampoo.

Hope this helps.

The Autoglym Shampoo is surprisingly good for the lazy man approach to car washing ( very much talking about myself here ).

Hose car, shampoo, hose again, dry half heartedly with a chamois.

Looks great for a while.

Halfords are seriously overpriced on the chamois leathers, so even if you do have vouchers I'd not buy them there.

The Shampoo is either a tenner of fifteen quid, methinks.

So if you are really energetic, you coould buy the shampoo and the Resin Polish....good stuff, but for lazies a problem, as it quickly turns to dust and gets everywhere. ( Unless you do it properly, of course ).

Don't ever use a chamois to dry a car. Its like using sandpaper to dry your skin. Today people use waffle weave towels, which absorb the water, not scrape it off. For a scratch free finish ditch the chamois.
