Which alloy laquer do I use ?

I am just about to replace the heavy cast water pump on my small block Chevy with a nice alloy one but how do I stop it from going white and cruddy ,can I just spray it with a laquer or will it just lift off after a while ? Any advice would be much appreciated .

Anodise it?

Lacquer will eventually lift I believe.

Good answer but the bearing would be damaged in the process of anodising!!!
would be best solution for the alloy casting as long as you can strip the pump remove bearing and put back together afterwards !

A good engine paint will work were clear lacquer will struggle to last !!
