Safegard Paint Sealant
Discussion
In a similar vein to belleair - the product used on the paintwork can often be picked up on the bay for £20, so what you're doing is generating a nice profit earner for them after they've paid their valeters £30 or so for applying it.
Whilst they work to a degree - just not as long lasting as claimed, the first time it comes up against a typical Kosovan/Polish/other foreign national hand wash, or washing up liquid, it'll be game over! Waste of £300 or whatever you were charged for it.
Even if thrown in, I wouldn't bother since the likelihood is the valeters will have taken a rotary with g3 to the paint, and left it looking like crap - marring, buffer trails, and nothing like the glassy defect-free look it should have.
If you're remotely interested in putting £300 into someone's pockets, do so with a professional detailer whom you can organise with the dealer to have access to the car and prep it for you, instead of their own guys. Not all dealer valeters are chimps, but the law of averages says there's more chance the ones working on your car will be.
So, between a properly prep'd car, ourselves here, and other sites like Detailing World, you'll soon learn the mystical art of car cleaning - the anal method!

Couldn't have put it better myself, the reason the sales person will try to push the product is that it's got massive profit to be made as they only pay their valeters peanuts and more often than not it will have been applied poorly and not allowed to cure to the paint, rendering it worthless.
Either look after it yourself and add the protection or have a professional detailer do it.

Don't waste your money. Either go for a decent film....or spend a few hours every two months giving the car a full going over with Chemical Guys Jetseal #109 and a couple of coats of Collinite wax.
