I have just had two new rear tyres put on my mr2 and the creamy substance they use to fit the tyre on the rim has dried and seems to have burned into the surface of the lip, anybody know is it possible to get this off or am i screwed???

hmmmm the creamy substance is just a lubricant and doesnt have any acid/corrosive content.
Are you sure the marks werent allready there before having the tyres fitted?
Wonder wheels and associated "wheel cleaners" have been known to discolour the clearcoat on polished alloys in the past and IIRC have a warning on the box to test on an unseen part of the wheel.

Other than that cant think of anything else that would cause it.

Just a thought have you tried a compound such as G3, TCut or similar?

Go back to the garage and ask what they use, its usually just a soap based product though?

Once you find out then post it up and I'm sure someone will have an idea.
