Here take alook at this thread:

This is the same style of problem I have had in the past, what would cause this for the film to go like this? Or is it more then possible its a poor quality film?

Hi Folks

I have just bought a Tuscan with film already on it. What do I need to do to look after it?

I wash the car with Zymol wax free shampoo and wax with Dodo Juice soft wax. I also sometimes use Zaino Grand Finale Seal. Are these products ok for use with film?
There is some discussion about Zaino on PPf and currently our advice on the films we use, is dont use Zaino on the film, dont get me wrong its a really good product, but one film manufacturer has question marks over the product and until they resolve it with Zaino talking to them then I would advise not to use it.

In general stock advice is to use hard carnuba waxes rather than paste waxes (Dom can kick in here I am sure) smile

As in general terms paste type waxes contain more solvents than the hard ones (of the kind that can cause the pores to open in the film), DODO juice along Wih Swissvax and Zymol are highly recomended for use on film by most film manufacturers (certainly by many installers worldwide), I am currently testing something new from more than polish (cheers Mark) on a couple of our cars and that looks pretty good at the moment, will have a better Idea in a couple of months but so far so goodsmile

Damn, I have just bought my tub of Dodo Juice purple haze, but its a soft wax. So I should go and buy the hard version now? (its hard enough explaining one tub of wax at over £30 to the mrs, let alone two!)
What colour is the car??

Cheers

Tom
Reflex purple. Should be on my profile smile
Sorry trying to do four things at the same time so didnt look smile

Ok the dyes in the coloured Dodo Juice WILL cause the film to take up that colour, We used to use the Orange crush on our boxster (completely covered) as it was orange, obviously if it was a different colour I would say dont use it as it will dye the film, on that colour it would work for you then.

Bear in mind paste waxes in general open up the pores however if you notice the film beginning to dull or it gets more difficult increasingly to get a shine then you will need to give me a shout and I will hook you up with a cleaner.

The importer of this product has agreed to increase considerably the stocks of this, I will be releasing what we recommend on threads on here and DW once I have processed the pics showing how it works (we have run out of stock and so has he thanks to us smile

Remember the yellowing and or dulling is almost always temporary better to not run the risk initially but as we know its correctable now then hopefully people will become a bit more at ease smile

I will post the data up on here (if a competitors customer doesnt break it first on another forum) smile

He rang us up with yellowing film, wanting his film replaced (after a year), instead of replacing the kit I suggested he had a go with the cleaner oddly he seemed happier with spending a tenner rather than several hundred smackers for replacing the kit smile

Cheers
Which dodo juice hard was would you recommend for a purple/green car with film on the front?

Light fantastic = soft wax for light colours (white colour wax)

Diamond white = Hard wax for light colours (white colour wax)

supernatural = soft wax for all colours (white to clear wax)

But any wax in the dodo juice range WILL work on any car , its the colours would best suit similar colour car (not the same thou for films clear and solvent free the better)

I guess you mean Diamond white as its a hard non coloured wax (contains less solvents) for film application .

Best person would be dom to answer and double check really .

I had my whole car covered with Paintshield about a year ago. It seemed to me the film had started going yellow more in some places than others. I took it to Tom yesterday and one of his guys sprayed a cleaning solution on the film and after a bit of work showed that the yellowing had mostly gone. I need to apply the cleaning solution a couple of times and clean and protect the car more often so that this doesn't happen again.

It's clear to me then that it's not the film that's going yellow but rather dirt / contaminents that are stuck to the film.

Right finished the interior on the AM, so tommorow, will be the obvious i.e.lower half degreased, snow foamed, washed,de-tared, clayed. The wheels are coming off and the cars going on axel stands so they can be cleaned properly including the hubs, suspension, arches etc. So will take alook at the ppf after a full ipa wipedown, and will call you about the ppf (what make and model etc) for you professional imput on the best method of correction. These though are in good shape, no discolour from what I saw, just marred quite a bit.

My green Focus RS was paintshielded a year ago. Overall, I'm very happy with it, although there has been somedirst penetration in a couple of places rearward of the front wheels - mudflaps stopped this - which I am going to have attended to on Wednesday.

Right this is where i'm at by the end of today:

The interior and inside boot is completed.
snowfoamed, washed, de-tared, clayed, dryed.
wheels removed and placed on axle stands.
Masked and full ipa wipedown.

So tommorow I will start paint correction, and take alook at the 3m films. To be fair there actually quite thick, and just have some marring so shouldnt be that painful. I'll give you guys a call tomorow, for some professional imput on the ppf. Cheers Mike

Sitting in Paintshield now while they attend to my (very minor) niggles.

Got to give another vote to the quality of their customer service. There was no debate about getting stuck in to sorting my car out, very impressed.

And the cafe over the road does a mean fry up!

Kicked off the paint correction today on the aston martin. Just incase, this is having a an enhancement detail, so not 100% of defects are being removed.

Thanks to Tom from paint shield for some helpful information on the ppf. ppf correction to follow.

Careful with that it is pistonheads you know, the Health Nazis will be in telling you you should have had a salad smile
I should point out that there was no debate at all about my request for a couple of bits to be attended to on warranty. Thanks guys, really good service.

The only thing I paid for was the £4.95 fry up smile. And the fuel to get to Peterborough frown
