Please carry on!

I'm stunned tbh...... The one that amazed me most was the orange peel BMW correction...

Thanks wink

i will give "others" the chance to post then come back to it.

i have 38000 pics on my hard drive to go through and upload which are not on website or photobucket , and still only scratched the surface of my old photobucket account.

I will find some more colours too thumbup

And when i get enough free time (really this will be at the end of summer) i promise to either update or start a new thread all about waxes sealent and fillers busting some myth's etc , it will be long and i want to get all the facts correct , last thing i want is members to read my facts and go and mess up their pride and joy .

edit to say got loads of bmw orange peel turn arounds stored with many more to upload , from 2-3 year old ones to day old brand new ones all shocking and in need for full wet sand detail .

Is this a challenge kelly? We have a mutual friend that will tell you, i have no need to edit photo's , you know as well as i do getting a dark color to look good on a pic requires nothing more than good prep and decent camera angle, not having a pop, just enjoying a bit of banter. I've only been in the trade for 30 years.

Hey Waxaholic, aren't you the same guy that slated Kelly's work on DW? I have known Kelly for a good few years, he doesn't do editing photo. He does what he does best - produce the ultimate reflections. It sounds like a challenge to me, hope you have plenty of pics (not edited of course lol).

Let the games begin...........

No challenge at all mate , more its not my thread or forum so let others post as its fair that way .
What the mutual friend got to tell me ?? love to know .

editing comment was the fact i know in the past people have contacted my web company asking if i or them photoshop the pictures .

I could see how this would work and help but not sure how you would then show the customer their car not looking like the ones you post / email to them .

the reason for the post of product myth busting is a read some much about this product does this this product does that , this wax brings out the colour , or whats the best wax for my 12 year old silver car whats the best wax for wetness , whats the best wax for reflection etc , also get many emails and phone calls on the same subject and even walk in's when i show them a panel wiped down with solvent and say bare paint the blank expression seen, its thou the public have been brain washed with so many different products .

In fact tests with gloss meters have shown yes products do in fact improve gloss and wetness to avergae or good prepped paint work of course and why they are so popular , but perfect paint the readings go down slightly with coats of wax and sealents applied and i do mean PERFECT paint prep viewed under a micro scope , and the value goes down more so when as many apply a coat of cleaner fluid a coat or two of glaze and then 3 coats of wax and some apply even more to their cars paint surface , but this cocktail applied on poor paint will enhance the look and appearance , but all of this will slowly wash away leaving you back with what you started with .

If the statment about camera angle and prep was total true then i could wipe on a product wipe off and orange peel gone ,

so the before and after pics of the wet sanded cars are same angles, same camera, same setting , same loaction , same person using camera , just uploaded onto pc then straight onto photobucket then posted on forums when i can , some of these pictures are between correction stages and been wiped down with solvent to inspect the amount of correction left or job done , so my point is no products what so ever and you could not find a product that could do this either .

The comments on my wet sanded you tube videos that someone could do what i do just using a £20 tub of wax and thats it and i am a con just shows the extent to how the public see marketed products .

In fact here is a few wet sanded panels part way through the process

start

you can clearly see the reflection becoming clearer and flatter through out the stages

nothing more than wet and dry paper water and arm power and of course knowledge

paint depth on first cut

paint depth on last cut

so material taken away and not added with products

then machine corrected one pass

then finally full machine correction for stunning finish and reflection

showing no swirls or evidence of wet sanding (bare paint)

a bit better i think than what we started with

then with last step protection products

Damm those camera angles

now if you want to do this

with wet and dry sand paper on a car thats done this

and is a week old then fill your boots and have a go then do it over and over year by year , i think i know when its products and when its skill and technique , i am here to help when i can with my knowledge and the main reason if you follow me on DW will see i am starting training courses to pass on the skill to others and holding a open day as such at low rate for "others" to see REAL detailing involving wet sanding and machine correction .

Of course i could just keep those canera angles all to myself thou .

I could of course add pictures of every reflection shot of every car in direct sun light or metal halide light source to show perfect paint and then hope you do the same too

Happy to help

Kelly

No i did not slate kelly so lets get that in order, i was just surprised that he was hoisting out a v12 engine with straps around the plenum chambers, simple as that, no slating involved and no offence was meant, if kelly or you for that matter wish to contact on said matter, then all you need to do is pick up the phone...
Dennis flat 12 engine not v12 mate wink

Thing is Dennis what you would not know is that i went through many years of extra higher education as part of the job I did for a worldwide auto motive company from a young age .
This covered in detail stresses , strains , fatigue , thermodynamics , fluids , hydraulics etc

This started by designing, making and maintaining machines that produced car and engine parts, then moved into another part of the company that involved making one off engine parts, modifying prototype engine and parts, some of which was on very low volume engines (talking only a few made) , then lastly before leaving the company to work on my business plan was to test in cold rooms known as climatic chambers , rolling roads known chassis dyno , and engine test beds .
This was to test parts and engines for every eventuality, these test were for the large manufactures of vehicles.
I got involved with ricardo (designed parts for Veyron) , Mira etc .
Then include while working for this worldwide company I helped out at a small company building race and rally engines and my own blue printed engine that’s still going today some 15 years after I built it with twice the original output.
And lastly my father’s large company of 40 years (accident repair centre, mot test station, and mechanical repairs) I spent every spare minute their adding to my experience and knowledge.
I took over my fathers role for a few years , when partly down to my fathers idea was to start up on my own with high end vehicles for customers expecting a better higher quality of service.

I have made one off parts for cars and nearly every car I have owned has been striped and rebuilt.

So I know what I was doing and will add to the thread on due time too

Anyway back to the reflections biggrin

silver car , dont need to put what coating is applied

white golf

this car here is owned by very good customer that i pulled out his ferrari engine , and he was sooooo happy that i maintain all of he car body and mechanical including this one below

I guess unless you had known about my back ground and training/experiance then people will ask questions of the way i may operate , in the future my website is being changed and upgraded alot to include all of the mechanical and modifing i have done in the past and a large KDS style write up to come of another lambo murcie with upgraded brakes with one off parts made and fitted by KDS

Had a customer in last week (PH member and nice guy) we chatted about the fact that i am not just a detailer and we do so much more at kds than most people would know , another ferrari is in with us for detail , paint , wheels , service and mot and what every else i find .

FC+ on their own compounding pad?
A bit heavy duty - what were you using grit-wise for flatting it?

now now boys, getting a little childish/defensive what ever you will....you either can or you cant simple as that, we all know there is bickering between detailers but try and keep it professional chaps eh...it could get out of hand and and wouldnt look good on either of you to be honest....if you have issues at least try and sort them out privately....its supposed to be a thread on reflections not who can do what....

I did a bit of wet sanding to remove some surface scratches from my OH's Mini, I like the way the finished picture reflects my house in the background (and some idiot with a camera too;) ).
