MINI R56 Headlamp removal problems
Discussion
Can anyone advise on removing and replacing the R56 headlamp units for a 2008 Cooper ?
I have just bought new complete headlamp units with clear indicator lenses to replace the existing ones with orange indicator lenses.
When trying to remove old unit 3 bolts unscrew easily but I am finding that the same one bolt on both units does not unscrew.
It is the side bolt that is parallel with the wheel arch.
It just turns and turns. Have tried putting some pressure from inside on the head of the bolt with a screwdriver but no luck. The brackets are all plastic so I am being careful not to break anything.
Any advice would be most welcome
thanks

An old post but still relevant.
Just encountered the same problem with a recently purchased 2008 Cooper S. The 4 headlamp fixing bolts are screwed into brass nuts captured in the plastic headlamp surround. Eventually after time the bolt and brass nut weld themselves together with corrosion, and so when attempting to remove the nut it eventually just spins in the plastic mount. I drilled the bolt heads off, removed the headlamp assembly and with patience and WD40 managed to remove the threads. This only effected the 2 outside bolts.Exposed to the elements I guess.
