Given the amount of time and money you've had to save for a car nothing less than an NSX would impress me tbh. Glad your ol toyota smoka is workin out. How long till you drive it?

I seem to remember the last time we went for a blast you were in a camry no?

Hiya Corey,

I think Adelaide Prestige or Prestige Walkerville/Frewville(Glen Osmond Road)sell parts but if you contact the factory on 01253 509 000 they will be able to organise parts to be sent out if you need them.I remember one Chim that used to only seem to come out at night reg TVR I think. When you get back,if your on the Greenhill Road near Summertown/Greenhills and you see a Sagaris flash past in about 12 months or so...its meeeee!

Hiya all in Adelaide by the way,its been 3 years since I left.

Have you already sent back or are in the process of? I have a load of info on this but still wouldnt mind speaking to someone who has first hand experience.

I'm in the midst of exporting my car back to Adelaide. Just having problems selling the house here in London - it's taking forever.

I've gone through all the hoops with the dreaded 'Import Approval' so should be plain sailing once I throw it on a slow boat to Oz. If you have any specific questions with regard to the importing of your car into Oz I can point you to the prime websites.

Once I posted the application off to Canberra it only took three weeks to approve - no questions asked.

Hey Simon,

I hope all goes well for your house sooner rather than later.

I think the main thing i would like to find out is... What mods will the Chim need to undertake to be passed as 'roadworthy' on SA roads? (if any)

What did you have to go through to get your import approval? Was there much to it? Have you got any quotes for shipping yet? I got my first quote a few weeks ago. Karman Shipping: In a solitary container (not shared) door to door London to Adelaide with all port taxes and duty etc worked out to be approx £3k'ish.

Havevn't really shopped around as yet but can't see there being a lot of difference

waits to be proved pleasantly wrong

Here's all the relevant sites that you're gonna need.

www.dotars.gov.au/transreg/vsb/vsb_10.htm

Dept of Transport: Contains all the information you will need regarding the importation of a motor vehicle. There are some new rules regarding cars that are 15 years or older. Also contains the application forms (downloadable).

www.customs.gov.au/site/page.cfm

Australian Customs: Customs requirements which are quite strict.

www.customs.gov.au/site/page.cfm

The good Ol' 'South Australian Transport Authority': Have to get friendly with these guys, cos they rubber stamp the documents to say whether or not you can drive your new flash car in the state.

The import approval form was easy enough to fill in and I thought it better to saturate the guys in the government department with lots of copies of orginal documents. The application plus supporting evidence totalled 50 pages. Breezed through in the end - only took 3 weeks from when I posted the stuff from England.

From what I hear Regency Park in Adelaide are pretty strict on brake rotor thickness, so I just changed (upgraded) all mine. I also enquired about the speedo as I've heard so much about the type of display - in that it's only allowed to display KPH - No dual type dials (kph / mph) allowed. I contacted the guys in Adelaide and they stated that this was not a problem - dual type speedos are allowed as l0on as it was factory fitted.

Transport costs. I've got one quote so far from Allied for just under £2k (shared). I'll be getting another quote from www.international-movers.com. (RobinOz - this forum) mentioned them. Looks like they should be cheaper.

A guy tranported his Esprit from England to Brisbane last year and it cost him £1k all inclusive. So there are cheaper companys out there.
