Excellent, congratulations thumbup
Thanks! Was one of those "fk It" moments, when I realised I could spend ages looking at different cars, comparing specs trying to get the perfect car, and haggling, or I could just get one that fitted the bill, looked and drove OK, and was within budget.

Drove a couple and was immediately v impressed - which was nice. Though having driven the 928 to the test drives, was not really in tune with a lightweight controls and sharp brakes - some impressive kangarooing and nose-stands ensued...biggrin

Nice.

Specs on that in terms of options? 17 inch wheels are a good shout (says the man with 19s).

Might organise a coastal cruise over Chrissy if Sydneysiders are keen?

Ta! Bog standard GTI spec from what I can gather - and seems nowt wrong with that. The only thing I would've liked is a sunroof, but maybe next time.

The Mk 6 Golf ones seem pretty bad. The mk 7 and lower powered versions in the polo and fabia seem fine.

Most of the problems are high oil usage and the other are being run on st petrol (e91). Ones with a remap to make them run richer are funnily enough a lot more reliable.

Basically tuned for fuel economy, ran lean, and if owners didn't use decent petrol they broke is the general consensus.

I like the Fabia wagon though. Just get one that has been remapped, driven hard, and has had good petrol and it's going to be better than a driven to church on Sunday special.

I bought something!

I was looking at all sorts of things mainly with the thought that by the middle of the year there will most likely be no more Commodores on the work car scheme.

I thought about older Merc M Class, Volvo XC70 or XC90, Foresters - i.e. practical, sensible family SUVs.

I did buy something Sporty, and Utility, and it is a Vehicle...

a 2002 VY SS Ute

Completely unnecessary considering I have a VFII SS wagon and it gets replaced by a Redline wagon in Feb. Totally impractical given it only has 2 seats and the OHs' Astra can tow the same amount.

It was cheap, came with a RWC, and was only 2 minutes from the house. When I went to look at it as soon as I started it I knew I was buying it - I simply couldn't resist. biggrin

I am struggling to not go see this car... maybe too heavily blinged up for my liking though.

Hmmm

Looks a bit over -restored to me. And has it got gold badges on the boot? That is a little low rent.

So I took a look at the two Roadbend Jags, both very very shiny - too good for me.

but this (despite being on the shiny side as well, with all that white leather (and me with two very small kids...))

redchina has probably registered, so is being sent the cars via email. The email links sometimes don't work when you put them in.

Same age, down to the month.

6.0 v8 430 hp auto vs 3.4 f6 295hp manual.

Similar acceleration, but very different to drive.
