Ive learnt that my Grandfather is buried in Springvale Botanical cemetery and post WW2 I don't know anything beyond his burial location. From what I understand he served in both wars, the first as a pilot officer cadet in Ypres and Bethune. Then in Africa before returning in WW2.

Are there any resources locally in Melbourne that I can approach; any pointers would be great.

I've messaged Springvale but I'd be happy to speak to any Vet organisations etc in Melbourne or if there are any groups etc that can add any detail.

You can do a search here: https://smct.org.au/deceased-search

Obviously, you'll need to know the name. I don't know who you'd approach if you didn't know the name but knew other info. I'll be near Springvale Cemetry later this month, across the road at Sandown raceway.

Using the search tool, I've found his name. He's varied his surname spelling and the date of birth is 20yrs out on the cemetery records. I'm intrigued to find out why my Grandparents left the UK and varied their surname. Possibly for legal reasons in the UK..
