I guess nowadays a lot are restored and or new chassis etc.
I love them also, I never forgot the time I saw a purple Lotus Europa type 74 for the first time when I came out of school (just a kid) on my bike
and wondered how the car looked, out of the normal world and low and that colour etc, good times.

Interesting find, they've done a lot of work, the new fresh colour looks OK too, me thinks.
also great (I think) it now has a fresh (better?) spyder chassis.

all in all looks like a fine example...

shipping it too new Zealand etc will cost you some extra, is new Zealand import friendly when it comes to classics?

that is indeed a very nice example of a Europa.

not suitable for track? what you mean by that :-)

maybe those wide body versions or type 62 or 47 racers? must be good enough I guess, I though I have read somewhere in those Europa books they were hard to beat in their class sometimes?
lightweight with mid engine, maybe even better then the elans? not sure though.

Lotus engineers would take the new Type 46 and would begin to make some important modifications. The weak Renault engine and drivetrain would be taken out of the car, and instead, a robust and more powerful 1600cc Ford Cosworth engine, capable of producing 165 hp, would be placed inside the car. Lotus would go on to produce between 50 and 70 examples of the 47GT which meant it was homologated in the Group 4 class. In that class, the car would just continue to win. Just during the 1967 season the car would go on to win at least eight more times.

In 1968, the car would go on to win its class at Brands Hatch. It would go on to win the 2-liter class at Silverstone and would come in 2nd during the Silverstone International event. Often in John Player Gold Leaf livery, the Europa was a force to be reckoned with on the sports car scene.

spyder chassis and a zetec with such valve cover and the other ingredients sounds great, the car looks good too, nice combo, hope it will go to a good home and we see more of it when its all installed.

that were good prices, I als remembered seeing a topgear or sort like car series on TV were a man had bought such red Ferrari Dino, it was a lovely example and it cost him no more then a Ford escort he says....I guess that must have bin in the 80/90tees then? I think (not sure) Tiff did a bit talking driving? too.

Does a good Lotus Europa drives better then such 246 dino?

It had been in South Africa where it had been raced, one thing I remember it was the first time I had seen rose mounted suspension. One story was that Jochan Rindt had raced it at Kayalami. The garage owner was planning to race it again, so did some formula ford race training to prepare he came back and said there was no way he was going to race as it was all too much for him. Not sure who then bought the 47.

This would be nice with a fast V6 or even small V8, although that Vauxhall 2.0 16 valve XE 'red top' engine is also fun I guess, but just to be more different a bigger (not to heavy) engine would fit such wide body as well.

Lotus 'Banks' Europa S2 62 Style Wide Body 1969 plate so no road tax either, at least by us in NL.
