RE: Unique Elan shooting brake!
Discussion
It needs some chrome around the rear side windows to maintain continuity (never thought I'd suggest adding chrome to a car - I hate the stuff). Actually, that window is the only fly in the soup - if it had the same recessing/chrome/radiused corners as the door window, it'd look more integrated.
It's not drop dead gorgeous on the outside, but it is unique and very well finished, and fab inside with great practicality. So great effort, and lucky owner.

Obviously done an excellent job in creating his dream however, for me its soooooooo 70's. Think I would have just gone out and bought a good Scimitar to get the look.
Who said its looks like a Stag from the rear? What! The stag was and still is if you can find a good example 'Awesome'
It reminds me more of a Gilbern Invader Estate than a Scimitar.Who said its looks like a Stag from the rear? What! The stag was and still is if you can find a good example 'Awesome'
The car is a def one off and well done to its owner for "living the dream" But whoever did the leather work wants shooting I know some will not like my colour scheme of my Elan but the leather was done properly...
Compared to this....
I hope this does not come across wrong it just seems a pity on such a one off vehicle.

Stunning (from what I can see of it). I'd rather spend 10k doing something like that up than any modern day renault/peugeot/chav mobile.
I saw this at Paul Matty's about 6 months ago.I can't remember the exact figure spent but it was much much more than this.

Yes, it was on display on Paul matty's stand at this year's Club Lotus Show at Donington in March, too.I have to say, I thought it looked really nice... amazingly well proportioned, considering it is a conversion of a car that was never intended to be a shooting brake.
It takes a lot of courage and conviction to commit the sort of money this must have cost to realising your dream. Well done that man!
I love anybody who mods something to suit themselves fair play!!
My modified plus2 was slated by most - fun though ...
Shame lotus dropped the plus 2 concept the excel never did it for me.
Cerbera now fits the bill!!
Barefoot - love your interior - what does she look like from outside!!

I think I'd quite like that if it wasn't so droopy at the back
Full credit for doing something different though, and doing it properly.
I totally agree. It may look droopy or whatever, but I think it's far better to have something like this that gives you the Lotus driving experience while being able to carry whatever the owner needs, than it is to compromise the driving experience by having a vehicle that can carry stuff but not do much else. For its intended purpose, its looks are secondary. As for the wagon based on the Elan Sprint, I remember seeing a picture of such a car. I forgot who made it, but they called it the Elambulance.Full credit for doing something different though, and doing it properly.

Then Lotus Dealer Hexagon of Highgate produced these cars 35 years ago based on the Elan Sprint
Fabulous bit of sleuthing/geekery RTH. If one was to make a criticism of the newer version, it's that the rear window line should have been allowed to straighten as this does. Looks a bit like those pick-up hardtops otherwise. Still though, Andy Williams would be proud.
