Like many I am surprised by the statistics. In 1991 we had 800 E-types at Donington and while numbers have risen according to the statistics there are 3,269 E-types in the UK, (2,651 on the road) and only exactly 500 roadsters of which 337 are on the road. Yet there were only 1,732 E-types in total in 1994 apparently, 52% of today's number. I would surely have thought there were more than that in the UK. I guess we'll get a straw poll at Silverstone in July when we are hoping for the biggest UK turnout of E-types ever, but even then I can't see more than 25% at most of those taxed turning up.

Interestingly, how on earth is there a 1959 E-type on the DVLA register? They were only made from April 1961!
75 was final year - but there seems lots registered post 75- are these all imports? As i've never even seen a 1976 Preg Etype
59 might be a prototype?

Ah, the petrol crisis! Dealers couldn't give away E-types at the end since it was a 14 yr old model that had a V12 engine and consumed fuel like it was going out of fashion. Many languished in the showrooms until - vastly reduced - they were sold off at any price just to get shot of them. That's why there are cars registered up to three years after their manufacture. 1959 is a complete mistake - the prototype wasn't running then.

Mine doesn't come up but that's probably because it's very low volume/kit car.

My mum had a Citroen Visa GTI though and sold it back in 2000 for a few hundred quid. Apparently there is now only 1 left yikes

All the first prototypes were destroyed by the factory and no cars exist pre-1961. There are still a couple of unregistered E-types kicking around AFAIK.

Is this a late registered car or a re-imported car (they weren't too hot about age-related plates in the late 70's, so a 1974 car re-imported in 1977 was likely to get a '77 plate).

That's a series 1 car up to 1967, but since there are no badges on the boot lid impossible to say more precisely. so, it's reimported and reregistered.

It also looks like a non standard colour, unless it's a bad photo. On looking a bit further, it comes back as a 'triple' registered in 1998, chassis no 151 and 4235cc. so probably a kit car with jag parts.

Coincidence that - mine is chassis 152 and it ain't a bit like that! I wonder, given the date of 1998, if it could be a Challenger? It should have a 3.8 engine of course, but I think the colour was prevalent in 1961, but if not Primrose was available later.

Not this old chestnut again, the info on the web site is crap so it's not worth debating how rare your car is. It's nonsense...

It is a Challenger, here is its thread on Retro Rides:

Its not accurate to the last car, but I believe it gives a general feel for the rough number of any car left - maybe accurate to +/-50 or so, since it is dependent on inputted data which may not have been entered fully accurately. That's much better than nothing though.

Take the Riley 1½ and Riley 1.5; though both very different post-war cars, it confuses the two and even lists some as being pre-war.

309 GTi - 76 left licensed on the road.

300 SE - around 800! Not bad for a car that has been out of production since 1991!
