Check out Alfa Romeo greys: wow - compared to todays dull greys.
Or Jaguar greys biggrin

Back in the 50s they did a whole range of greys, mine is now pearl grey, then there was Cornish grey (which my car was originally)

This is the only shot of her I have in her original colour, this was back in 1960.

Getting darker they then had battleship grey.

My view has always been that the publicity pictures back in the 50s tended to be in black and white so people were used to seeing grey cars. Also it was easier to photograph them.

Albert, I'm sure you can furnish us with a selection of grey Alfas, I'm looking forward to seeing them.

Is that Warwick grey? Always looked nice on a Mark II with red leather.

I think that the TR6 looks fantastic in lavender.

I've never had a truly lavender coloured car, though there are definitely shades of lavender or violet in my Alfa.

Would love to know the AR colour code and name of this, looks fantastic to me
(AR442 Brilliant blue?)

Well, the sticker inside the boot lid says 442B Blu Metallico....

And it is a fab colour.

Jaguar used Lavender into 1976 - the XJS was available in it.

We've had this divergence before. I think some people have mild colour blindness.

All is forgiven as nice car pics. Agree all non-lavender though. That jaguar is so desirable but combo of divorce threat, hatred for thirsty cars (stingy) and £6k budget means I shall resist. But I've looked at the ad ten times

It's funny you should mention that. I don't know what the case is now, but in the '70s most of the colour designers working in manufacturers were women, mainly due to their far superior colour acuity and the high incidence of colour blindness in men. This thread seems to totally reinforce this view.

Lavender??? NOT!!
