Hi Hide, 80 and all,

Hide, thanks for your interest, it can be really cool in the windblast.

Finding these engines is very hard, it took my several years to locate it and 3 year's to restore and make just about every part needed but when it fires up for the first time it is amazing.

More before and after restoration photo's please.

Andy, I commented on your thread on the aviation forum, I've been looking for a Sea Lion to fit in a 1929 boat for years, I know of one, we're talking about the price....

Hi v8250,

Thanks for your interest, I have run the engine at Brooklands at the 2011 Double Twelve along with the Napier Bentley and the Railton but I don't attend any lectures.

A very kind offer. It is now rebult and running well with a lightend flywheel,3/2/1 heatwapted manifold, ported and polished head and a new cam.The only problem was the cam bearings, sorted in the end.Block was rebored new H/C pistions, crank regrounded and head planed.

It is fitted in a 1961 Mk2 MGA.

Great thread, some amazing restro jobs here, love the WW1 truck and the Aero engine smile

Seeing as one of Richards Rally cars is on here [ great job btw ] here is mine. Originally a 1979 1600 sport, I bought the shell in march 2010 and got it running in May 2011.
Last pic was taken at the Coracle stages rally at sweet Lamb on 22nd this month, ½ shaft broke on the last stage!

Look forward to many more great pics and stories.

cheers

That's almost exactly what I did, plus bullet valve guides, into an MGA 1500 with a ford type 9 sive speed box and a 3.9 diff from an early B, went like the clappers!

If you know of any more Napiers, Huntsman of this parish wants one to rebuild and put in a rotten old wooden moneypit vintage speedboat.

You were right at first...

I hoped that this weekend I might get a little step closer to a Lion, however it didn't come together. Slowly slowly catchy monkey....

Hi Huntsman,

Did you find a suitable Lion ? it would be great to know of another engine to be run up.

That's nothing.

I know of several classic car dealers who have created magnificent and historically interesting vehicles using nothing more than a chassis plate as a starting point wink

I was thinking of adding mine to this but the standard of work already on here is awesome. I only rescued a slightly rusty racing MGB,
Please accept my respect for the excellent projects completed on here.
Excellent idea for a thread as well!
