Rub the dizzy cap and change the air filter, loads of aggressive shouting and Wahay,
"It's worth 18 graaaand!"
Don't forget to angle grind the yellow paint off, chuck a bucket of filler at it, slap on some green, reverse it into something, pour redex in the engine, (for smoke effects), oh and don't forget to fix a piston and paint the callipers with body paint, (more smoke effects at the first emergency stop)."It's worth 18 graaaand!"
Utter bs, but highly profitable for channel 5...

Erm, to give folk on forums something to moan about perhaps?
Personally I find it hilarious....like an old episode of Minder with Arfur running around on one of his dodgy car deals.
Actually it's nothing like that, more like a motoring episode of fake Britain.Personally I find it hilarious....like an old episode of Minder with Arfur running around on one of his dodgy car deals.
Contrived crap.

This link explains it, it's being filmed for the Canadian market, that would explain all the shouting and drama, there's also a episode guide for the rest of the series too.

'The “Cadillac Coupe De Ville” was “the standard of the world” in the ’50s, and summed up the post-Second World War American confidence. The team travel to Canada to find a gorgeous old Caddy, but everything that can go wrong quickly does 'http://bellmediapr.ca/discoveryworld/
The irony of it.

Hopefully Canadians will realise that those bodgers are not representative of UK restorers!!http://bellmediapr.ca/discoveryworld/
All the talk of profit from these "restorations"
OK if it was done in spare time by the owner of the car that would be profit.
But these bodgers have 8 or so guys doing the work for them, so they have to be paid, and working "through the night" as they said the painter guy did, the cost of wages more than wipes out any profit!
But Hey it keeps us busy moaning, and as one voice calling it rubbish!
But we will tune in next week I bet!

I wondered about that - there was no mention of labour costs when calculating the profit. The guys who do the work look a motley crew - the sort of gang who turn up to dismantle old houses, or help "tree surgeons". No way are they experts in any shape or form.OK if it was done in spare time by the owner of the car that would be profit.

For my sins I have watched both episodes so far and will continue to watch. The Etype I think they did a shoddy job on, the 911 was at least treated to some new suspension and brake components so should be better than it was, would I enter the competition to win it? No thanks not at £1.20 plus standard charges, if it had an enter free online option then perhaps I would have been enticed enough to let the prime sponsors know when my insurance was due etc.
You can enter by post for the cost of a 2nd class stamp only.Jagmanv12 said:

I doubt it. All Canadians (who ALL wear lumberjack check shirts, drive pick-up trucks, have police in bright red uniforms and say "eh" at the end of every sentence) still believe London still gets smog, bankers wear bowler hats, people still jump on the back of red busses, and 'cok-a-neys' answer the 'dog and bone'. - Discovery World HD - 'Where stereotypes are re-enforced' i saw a trailer today for a new programme that will feature some cockney geezers buying and selling car parts.
it will be on national geograhpic but i forget what it is called . looks totally ste
edited to add , its called strippers ,cars for cash .

At least its another program on the box with 4 wheels, bks or not, I'm glad its on...
Valid point and perhaps I'm glass half empty.I see it as a wasted opportunity to get a decent program into one of the few motoring slots available.
I used to watch a few of the American shows, both cars and bikes, when I worked overseas.
Of course they were a bit OTT but the difference was that they did actually fully restore or customise the car/bike and at least the technical content was correct.
The people carrying out the work were competent restorers and/or customisers and the end result was professional.
I was able to watch the whole program and usually found them entertaining even though I'm not particularly interested in American cars in general.
These two idiots aren't even competent car restorers so why give them headline status ?
