It's funny, I rip around some really tight little local lanes in my Pembleton with it's 4ft track and barely let off the throttle stop when there's another car coming. You can see both front wheels and place the car perfectly.
Yet in my big modern volvo it's (at best) slow/stop and let the other car crawl past, and at worst reverse or wait in a passing place.

So I had a look at some dimensions, and the XE is over 400mm wider than the Maxi, or nearly a foot and a half in old money
(looks some more) - apparently the XE is a foot wider than an early '70s XJ6, and I'm sure when I was a kid they were huge
So if there is something else of a similar size coming the other way, that's the best part of three feet less spare road to play with...
And it explains why car park spaces are getting narrower - it isn't down to me eating all the pies after all!
