Thanks Doof. paperbag To avoid shame I actually checked before posting by looking at the pics in the Google machine – what are the points of difference?

(At least I didn't declare it to be a 288...)
Wasn’t one glass fibre and the other steel ?

Early 308s were fibreglass.

I saw some pics on one of the GT6 FB groups of a GT6 that had been hit by one of those giant things, in the US. Grim frown

Didn't put me off wanting a GT6 mind.

Guy I worked with back in the late 70s had taken his Spit underneath an artic yikes it had pulled out on him, not seeing him down there and said the only place to go was to steer underneath it and duck down across the passenger seat till he came out the other side. Not a trip I'd have fancied.

Not that I am an eco-warrior or climate change preacher but those huge Yank things are quite disgusting. At time when it is everyone is supposed to be reasonable it sums up some American's "fk you" attitude to the world. Detestable things...

I tend to agree with you.

Ironically (for people wanting to make an impression) the people getting out of those things will look like a child hopping off the school bus.

They look like limo's (three doors plus load bed window)... even if they are they're very the definition of gross proportions from just the design never mind the size. More so when compared to the delicate lines of the Spitfire.

I’ve owned a classic American truck but do question the scale of pick ups in general. Most don’t have very big useful beds. The most practical to me were the lower level trucks like this.

I had a Quad cab Dakota and the bed length was okay but when I get another I’ll be getting the Club cab with the longer bed. Why anyone buys a Navara or Barbarian I have no idea as you can’t get a decent-sized piece of chipboard or plasterboard in their beds …

We went to Canada on holiday in early 2000s. My son then about five, bought a pack of 5 model pick ups in a pack. We thought they had just thrown in one with a random scale totally different from the rest.
Next day, we saw the real thing….

Shamelessly nicked off the Austin A35 owners farcebook group

Whenever we pop into town to do shopping etc we always take my wife's smart. You can throw it at virtually any space and it goes in with plenty of room to open doors.

It's not just americans we brits do it as well. People are consumers and large is always better in their eyes. They like to better 'the Jone's'.

A Kia can be the same size as a BMW X5. Just look at how many people bought Kia's so they could look like BMW drivers. Sad isn't it and a waist of the planets resources.

I just checked and they are 178cm long. I can get bigger stuff in the boot of the Volvo with the seats folded down. And it won't get nicked or soaked on the way home.

hahah, a GT40 looks normally pretty wide and low, but how wide and big is that BMW pfff way to big.

also that newer Ford GT way to much, me thinks.
