I was staggered to learn that the current BMW M4 is wider than an eighties 7 Series, heavier yet only a couple of inches shorter. It's a proper tank of a thing.

Never mind the Maxi, the Mini Clubman is bigger all round than the Austin 1800 Landcrab.
And this isn’t actually a Clubman! It’s the standard size Cooper 5 door hatch!

Speaking of which…..

To be fair, the A110 is an incredibly small car. My Ginetta G15 was easier to get in and out of!
I was amazed that at 6'2"/6'3" I could fit in an original A110. Didn't help with me wanting to own one.

Obviously cheating somewhat, as not apples with apples, but my old ST205 parked at Sainsbury's surrounded by this pair laugh

The original is tiny by any standards, the new 110 is tiny compared to most moderns, 6"-8" shorter than an E30 or a Cayman. Comparatively wide though, modern/normal in that regard.

Not dwarfed, but if you consider that one is a small sports car and one is a big V12 saloon... wink

Well it looks like the Jag dwarfs the Alpine to me.

Apart from the Golf, where you can see the older one is parked further away from the camera. They all look relatively similar sizes to their modern counter part. Certainly not dwarfed by any stretch of the imagination rolleyes

So another small car parked next to a big car from an unfavourable camera angle to exaggerate the effect. You then had a lightbulb moment??? FFS

Believe it or not the Alpine is wider than the Daimler.

BMW started making coupe versions of their SUV's about 10 years ago. They started with the X6. They now also do an X4 which is smaller. I believe they plan to do a version of the 8 series which will be called an X8. The one pictured above must be an X6 I'd guess.

If the angles were such that the older Golf were further away you would be able to see the back of it.
Also if you compare the B pillars of the two Golfs you've got a pretty similar angle.
That picture seems to be pretty bang on square on the gap between them.
Of course it is possible that the original Golf is further away because the far side is aligned and the new things is so much wider than the original.
