they were very common at one point, i remember. At the time they were a bit of a joke (to me anyway) but they're definitely a zeitgeist, and dare I say it they actually look quite good these days? Fiat X/19 IIRC.
Yes, sorry, I meant to put X1/9. There was a story about it not being developed despite its success. There were a few facelifts but nothing much under the skin. Maybe under different management it would have developed into something tasty over time.DickyC said:

IIRC the first cars were a 1300,that ^^ is a later 1500 with the big bumpers. When I was at college in 1979> one rather more wealthy than the rest, son of a very famous sportsman, had a new one.
Everybody else had right old bangers.

Lancia Aurelia B24 Spyder - much rarer I think, than the convertible, and also worth a packet. Are those wire wheels, or some sort of cover for the standard steel wheels?Mike

No photo's I'm afraid but...
Trundling through the lanes around Calne yesterday in the Scooby pick up we caught up with a trio of motors that must have been a collective age of about three hundred and fifty years old - no idea if they were De Dions or Renaults (or whatever) but were a fantastic sight. The last one appeared to be chain drive with no diff', but what would I know - before my time...
The previous day had a near three hundred mile drive in my mate's vulgar, chavvy '85 RS Camaro, resplendent in its colour coded white bodykit! Despite mainly motorway miles at a very sedate pace (the bike he rode back was hardly a m-way cruiser) had a cracking drive with the top down all the way. Spotted a few nice motors including a '58ish Edsel station wagon, a Volvo 264, E-type coupe... but the highlight had to be getting overtaken by a red and white Ford GT40 - that has to be the most fantastic sounding car I have heard in a long time!

Heading north on the A12 yesterday morning we passed a nice red Urraco, sounded lovely and the driver slowed down after passing us so that I could re-take him and have a good look!
Then, on the way home, we saw this Healey Silverstone. I had to Google the plate to find out what it was. Pictures are not the best, sorry, they were phone pics out of the car window:
and this one was taken in the rear-view mirror!
Actually saw a lot of classics on the A12 yesterday, I guess there may have been an event somewhere?
