Do you know Bradfield? That looks a lot like Wlkins' petrol station, even though it hasn't been one for many years.
No, I don't know it very well. I've had three flying visits. My guvnor deals with two businesses there; Wigmore's (which I posted recently on the Humer Unbeam thread) and this one which could well have been a petrol station and car repair garage. At the front the MoT signs are the only giveaway but the buildings at the back are used for car restoration. Why the two Sierras are there with their tyres flat I'm unable to explain.TR4man said:

Cobra and 911.
Others all lovely but not a Cobra, the usual fake.
Fulvias are such pretty cars, but is this example a bit high at the back?Lancia Fulvia by Jim Pritchard, on Flickr

My wife said that there was a nice old sports car in the supermarket car park yesterday.
"What was it?" I asked.
"A red one" she replied.
"Yes, but what make of sports car?"
"Don't know, but I took a photo of it for you" she replied.
My wife does not recognise one of the most iconic car shapes of all time....

The coolest estate car ever made - even better than the Lancia HPE I once had. Some years ago I was leafing through the Classic & Sportscar that had arrived late (as usual) here in deepest France and I found an Eventer advertised by a firm in Nottingham. I literally ran to the phone, but it was already sold. Couldn't afford it now...https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/21844/lot/308/
A Lynx Eventer is a rare car, but a Gucci Lynx Eventer is even rarer.

We spent years and years trying to trace the one and only Gucci Eventer and then it turned up as an enquiry on a PH thread a couple of years back. It was for years in Gucci's garage after its hurried departure from Geneva. Good to see it lives even if the taste is questionable. I'll dig out the scans of the brochure.

Went to see a friend who does work on my cars today, and sitting outside his workshops was something fairly square, rear-engined, two doors, orange.
'What is it?' he asked. It looked NSU-ish, a sort of grown up Prinz but I couldn't think of anything remotely quicker than a Prinz, and certainly not the NSU Quickly that I owned as a boy.
'Have a look at this,' said my friend, holding up keys that announced 3A3. Anybody out there on the right track yet? Amazingly, it seemed to boast slightly different length twin exhausts. Inside the rear engine compartment was a V4, 1200cc.
It's what we would call a ZAZ from Zoporizhia in Ukraine, made around the early sixties. My friend had bought it from someone in Suffolk. Model number is 968, not quite a Porsche, however.
But imagine these selling points: V-power, it runs, it's mega-rare, everything seems to be there (including a petrol-fuelled heater!) and all well under £1000. Sure, there's rust and work to be done but he reckons it will be a lone banner in the UK for ZAZ production within a few weeks.
Oh, and on the way home I saw an E-type, red.

I went to Turin last week...got onto the rooftop test track at Lingotto to find the German 124 Spyder Owners' Club were in town...

Ruin my day, why don't you? When I had the RS2 I was unable to insure my sons on it because they were younger than 25. But we could go to a track day with no problem. So off we went to Castle Combe where they could drive as fast as they liked. In the paddock was a race prepared NSU Prinz. It was nicely done, but still, I mean, come on. Y'know, come on. On one session where I was driving I noticed the Prinz was lined up too. I had a little smile to myself and off we went. The RS2 is a fast car in anyone's book but are you familiar with the phrase, "He went past me like I was tied to a tree"? I was lined up for one of the faster corners and from nowhere the Prinz just appeared and with no apparent effort waltzed past, took the bend with dismissive ease and wasn't seen again. At least the sessions were short enough I didn't have to suffer the indignity of being lapped. Gassing Station | Classic Cars and Yesterday's Heroes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
