It is a good spotting ground for Jags, location and marque look familiar...
Close to Newcastle under Lyme is an independent Jaguar specialist down a side street who seems to use this spare ground as a parking area for his premises on the other side of a dual carriageway.
Whenever I'm close by, I'll always take a slight detour to see what is there. The red E Type above was there today.

Spotted in stationary southbound traffic on the A34 near Hinksey this morning, a pair of orange pre-impact bumper 911s, both bejewelled with Fuchs alloys and brightening up an otherwise very dull day, one was a 69 / 70 H plater, the other a 71 / 72 K plater. Splendid stuff.
Can't be coincidence that the Rally of the Tests was starting that evening in Bournemouth, and the southbound A34 heads that way ...johnzo said:

Here's a little French oddity I saw this morning. '81 so qualifies under the "Love Old Classics" clause, though spotted in Hampstead, not Battle...
A rarity indeed. (Talbot) Matra Murena. It's registered as a 1982 car with DVLA, but it's "date of first registration" is September 2016. It must, therefore, be a recent import?
Glass fibre epoxy body panels over a galvanised steel space frame chassis, with a (fold down) third front seat. Production ended in 1983, and the Matra factory at Romorantin then built the Renault Espace I.
Matra were responsible for some real innovations and were in some ways way ahead of their time. The Rancho, though roundly derided as being rubbish now, would probably sell by the bucketload as a 'soft roader' SUV these days. And they had a huge hand in developing the Espace, which is kind of the template for the modern large MPV.
Great spot!
ETA: I found this while trawling for images... http://www.beaterblog.com/2013/09/market-place-fea... ...which seems to be a 4x4 Rally Car version of the Murena. A 2013 ad for a pile of parts, really, but an interesting basis for a project that would probably end up as entirely unique by the time it was finished.

It was entirely their work I think. They then punted it around various companies to find one who would pay them to produce it for them. It was going to be a Talbot originally, hence the Talbot corporate face on the earliest ones. When Talbot folded Renault took over, but it was too late to redesign the front, beyond nailing a diamond badge on.Doofus said:

On a "K" plate but looks like a post '81 facelift....
I'm also not sure the 280 was available in 1972/73.Edited by TR4man on Thursday 10th November 06:58
