How can it be a 1975 when it's showing a 'T' Reg for '78/'79 given that you cannot apply a new reg to an older car?The year indicated in the registration number denotes the first year that the car was registered for use on the road in the UK, not the year that the vehicle was manufactured.
So if this Rolls Royce was put straight into storage unregistered in 1975, or if it was exported abroad somewhere for the first three or four years of its existence, and was then registered in the UK for the first time in '78/'79, then the DVLA would have issued the car with a '78/'79 registration number and not a '75 number.
What you cannot do, is have a registration number that is newer than the vehicles first year of registration in the UK (although there are a few cases known where this has somehow happened)
So in the case of this Rolls Royce, although it was manufactured in '75, because its first year of registration was '78/'79 it can carry any registration number up to a '78/'79 "T" plate, but it cannot carry a number after the '78/'79 "T" plate.
Road Tax Status Expired: 01/12/1984
MOT Status No details held by DVLA Vehicle Make ROLLS ROYCE
Colour SILVER
Registration Date May 1979
Manufacture Year 1975
Vehicle Age 37 Years

Any interest in my pics from Tecno Classica? Only classic car show I've been to so far where there were more Miuras than F40s (or Morris Minors)!
Most definitely, please post them.Been to TC Essen 3 times and its one of few shows I could go to every year without being bored.
