Saw a red fixed head Lotus Elan on the M4 this evening near Langley.

1965 or 66. Somewhere around there. Nice.
Were you travelling at 88mph?
Dicky has a very long memory ,M4 only just opened back then....biggrin
Was it not the A40M originally ?
I remember the M4 stopping at Holyport at what is now Junction 8/9. The old fella was keen to use it although Holyport to Sandhurst to get home wasn't ideal. Prior to the motorway he'd used the A30 to get to London, not the A4. When the M4 opened right through there was a speeded up film on the telly of driving the route with Love Sculpture's* cover of Sabre Dance as the backing track. Exciting stuff. Men on the Moon, heart transplants, supersonic passenger planes and driving from London to Wales in one go at 70mph. Brave New World and all that.

*Even Geekier Corner: Love Sculpture's lead guitarist was Dave Edmunds.

Not sure about Junction numbers but I worked on the Stokenchurch to somewhere stretch which was known as the High Wycombe by pass or the A40M when it was built ... or am I delusional ? lol

PS I was 19 living the dream with a crowd of 'lads' ... I remember some fantastic young ladies were 'available' and the crack was good with the Irish guys ... seem to remember a load of caravans as accommodation on Holmer's Farm

Oh memories ha ha !

Where I work just outside Birmingham, most days this beauty is parked in the car park.

There's been a dark blue 560 SEC parked in the business next door's car park but it's tucked up in a corner and I've not been brave enough to wander in and get photos, but it looks ace!

Likewise, a lovely looking green Mk1 Capri in the business car park next door but one.

Spotted a Lancia Monte Carlo and a Flavia on the A65 yesterday afternoon. Turns out that the Owners Club are having a bit of a do at the Beech Hill Hotel, between Bowness and Newby Bridge.

From memory there's very little room to park at the Beech Hill ? Access by boat is easier ...

I saw a bit of a selection this morning, a red Renault Caravelle at a filling station, and black and cream Vauxhall Victor (I think), and these two (although the second one was yesterday):

Never seen a Taunus like this before.

Early Kadett.

Murena.
Cars in first 2 pics are inside a Ligier microcar dealer yard and the Matra is in a yard next door.
All in Mettet,Belgium.

And this stuck in rear window of a Belgian Corsa.

I saw a bright orange P-reg Lancia Stratos heading North on the A3 yesterday evening. I'd never seen one on the road before, looked glorious in the rear view mirror before blasting past.

He agreed when we told him they didn't suit the car. He has a more classic set to fit when he's next in Italy. Owns a C1, Custom Camaro and Shelby Mustang too
