COOL CLASSIC CAR SPOTTERS POST!!! Vol 2
Discussion
Tonight, in Farnborough, I spotted a TR7. A wide arch TR7 liveried up as "Hamilton Motorsport". Now I like a TR7 at the best of times, but this was something else. Best looking livery i think i've seen on a TR7. No idea if it's a pukka racing/rally car or not, but it was bloody lovely...

Is that Chalmers company anything to do with the Allis-Chalmers tractor and farm machinery manufacturer? My dad was heavily involved in agricultural machinery preservation and restoration before ill-health prevented him from playing with his toys, and he had a couple of Allis-Chalmers bits and pieces about the place over the years.

No, The Chalmers Motor Company of Detroit.Chalmers later merged with The Maxwell Motor Company, which became Chrysler.
Hugh Chalmers was also Vice President of National Cash Register.

I'm guessing in the modern era of corporations jealously guarding their identities, and pre-registering model names and even numbers as trademarks, one or other of those two companies would have lost a court battle and been forced to change their name...?
