STRANGE???
How does it get the DVLA Jan 1966 Registration date if it was made later??
Well.....there were ways once upon a time......whistle

As said, it maybe a kit......but it doesn't look like it to me, most Cobra kits stand out like a sore thumb, and that one looks too like a Cobra to be a kit, I still reckon its a MKIV.

Could it be a 1966 AC289 cobra with a 427 body style? The 289s were I believe 5 litressmile
Not without a 427 tube chassis under it, which is what the 20-odd AC289 Sport's were that were built in the mid 60's at Thames Ditton.

And the 289 is a few cc's over 4.7 litres.

A 302 is 5 litres which is what all bar a few MkIV's were fitted with.....again, something that points to a MkIV.

Very much the real thing too - the first ever Boreham-built "Works" Escort. Awesome spot. Who cares about the bloody Porsche?

Seen today within about 10 minutes between Dunkeswell and Exeter;

a white Citroen GS estate
a pale yellow Anglia
a white 80s era 911 cabriolet with a whale tail and blue soft top
a fk Off Orange (I believe that's the right name for it) Viper GTS
a "Strela Yella" Triumph Stag (yes, I know but I'm using it anyway because I can)

The nice weather really brings them out.

You do realise that 289 refers to the engine capacity in cubic inches? (ie 4.7 litres)

Earliest registered "Boreham built" Escort certainly. As it was only used once as a works car, in the 1969 Acropolis rally, (finished 2nd with Roger Clark driving) the honour of being the first works Escort normally goes to XOO 355 F which competed on the 1968 San Remo Rally.
