I remember having that roof-rack, absolutely identical, square ally cross bars and those two strange long wide side pieces - it clamps to the gutter with 4 short thin strips of soft plastic for protecting when the bolts are tightened.

This was around the late 60s/early70s.
That one on the Trabi is in incredible condition.
Classic part now, the owner probably paid more for it than the Trabi! biggrin
Reminds me of the 70s joke:

How do you double the value of a Skoda?
Fill its tank..

At Sleap Aerodrome this morning.

Apparently run at Snetterton last weekend and came 1st.

Does 120mph in second!

Back when wheels and tyres were much narrower, if you got the front wheels of your Morgan three wheeler stuck in tram tracks, the easiest thing to do was to follow the tracks back to the depot to extricate yourself.

I'm prepared to overlook the pimp tints and black alloys, both of which can be rectified pretty easily, due to how immaculate the rest of this is. I had one back in the early 90's - my first proper sports car. Looked exactly like this - Top Red.

Has the owner also painted the roof? I don't remember them having different coloured roofs.

They didn't. It's probably been repainted to hide a repair, as they can be quite prone to the tin worm.

I bought one new in 1988. They were quite heavy. My friend had a Corolla GT which had the same engine, but was quicker. Those alloys weighed a ton!

All the visible cars are Jaguars of some kind. My thinking is that the second car in the photo is part of Jaguar history - I'm thinking Swallow, or possibly a Swallow replica.

It's a car designed and commissioned by Rixon Bucknall. He had other cars built, one was a revised MGB from memory.

I always loved the Mk1 MR2 rear window spoiler reflecting the TOYOTA name in the screen.
WHY has nobody else ever copied that?

Anyway, the MR2 did have a competitor at the time, plenty of backtoback tests in mags. It had a great advantage in that the body was GRP, except the doors. Of course, considerably more MR2s were built. But today, while the old MR2 got the dreaded tin worm and disappeared in droves, the GRP car held on over the years and plenty survive. And imo it was by far the better looking.

Built in 1956 on an XK140 chassis - it's said that Jaguar supplied the chassis/engine only at special request, the only time they did this for that model. Bucknall wanted vintage looks but modern sophistication in the running gear. I think it looks dumpy.

A bit dumpy, but not as ugly as a Mk.9 Beaman Special. hurl

I agree it's not the best looking car around, but I wouldn't say it's dumpy. Then again it is my car wink

Goes very well though and is an excellent touring car, which is exactly what it was designed for.

It's not often you see one of these in France - let alone South Devon.

It's not an H. It looks like a Peugeot D4.
