Doesn't it go something like:

Veteran
|
Vintage
|
Classic
|
Retro/Youngtimer
|
Getting on a bit – ("Is this a classic yet?")
|
Secondhand I (non-franchise forecourt fodder)
|
Dealer trade-in
|
Current model
Sounds about right. To me a classic is a car the owner is keeping going for the love of the vehicle itself and not for financial reasons, like owning a getting on a bit car, which the owner might get rid of if they could afford something better.

For example, the owner of this Holden Special would probably keep it if they won the lottery

Plenty of others disagree though when you see the numbers if moggy thou's in attendance at Classic car showssmile
Ha ha, we are obviously at the opposite ends of spectrum, had Renault 4, 2CV and have a Morris Minor currently, (along with other slow cars like Austin 7s which you would also probably despise.)

BTW Morris Minors don't have king pins, they have trunions.
The trunions let go if they are not greased regularly . . .

Good point. We had a Bedford HA van, in which my brother and I sat on old cushions, or a tool box. Any type of car was aspirational to me. :-(
The Bedford HA van is a classic!

HA! -
We re-bodied a damaged HA van. The old shell was dumped at the back of the workshop. For a larf, we filled some balloons with oxy & filled the shell with them, a taper of fuel to blow it up. It jumped a couple of feet & ended up round rather than square. Great fun..

Apologies for my lack of talent with a phone camera, but nice to see this out and about in Dunedin, NZ.

Good to see that one.
I believe my much loved Europa was turned into a hovercraft - yes, you read that correctly.

I believe it was made on the short lived UK version of the US TV program Monster Garage, but that's about all I could find.

Edit : I guess that's your picture and you already know that, so no new info, sorry.
