I saw one of these, about a week ago ,in gold colour and in nicer condition than this one being driven locally to me.
It was the coupe/hatch shape.
The hatch was the Chevette and the coupe was the Kadet. I always fancied the idea of the Kadet coupe with the Chevette front end.It was the coupe/hatch shape.
Met my youngest lad last night up that London and opted to waddle back from Mayfair to Paddington through W2. It's a bit posh. In the residential areas were endless ranks of Porsches and Bentleys. Then I came to the shops and restaurants and found this, a Bristol Blenheim.
You might not like it but you have to admit that having the only one on show in the neighbourhood is stylish.
Oh, and honourable mention for this, a Dubai registered... dunno. 599? Not very good with Ferraris.

I think I prefer the Scimitar behind it!You might not like it but you have to admit that having the only one on show in the neighbourhood is stylish.

Even if I had the money I wouldn't have a Blenheim. The only Bristols I've ever really hankered after are the 408 and 409. Quietly confident with an air of 'speak softly and carry a big stick.'I saw a 408 in Guildford in the early Seventies parked up with its cooling fans still spinning. It made quite an impression on an impressionable lad.

W2 (Bayswater / Westbourne Grove) wasn't always so posh. I worked there between 1996 and 2000, at which time there were a fair number of dodgy B&Bs catering for those on council housing waiting lists or asylum seekers. Also the ex-council flats on the local Hallfield Estate hadn't yet gone up in value - you could get a decent one for about £80,000.P5BNij said:
Gorgeous spot 'in captivity' at Brooklands earlier this year, the prototype Lola GT, Jay Leno has featured it recently on his channel...
Stunning thing. Also seen this year out in the wild at Goodwood FoSLola Mk6 GT by Nick Liassides, on Flickr

As for the Chevette.....
and Yes Coupe
You've cheated a bit there as these were prototypes that never made production! and Yes Coupe
I can't tell if that's a recent 'shop, or a Vauxhall-derived lay-up. I've seen the latter with a Firenza prototype photo.

Those seem to be Opel wheels. And why is the number plate blurred out?
And only a passenger side mirror despite it being a right hand drive car, no headrest on the drivers side, but one on the passenger side.... Looks like a bad 'shop to me.Edit: It is a 'shop. See here, half way down.

Found this nearby - it was IMMACULATE.
When I was a kid I used to look at those Merc SLs and think: 'When I grow up I'm going to have one of those Mercedes with the dented roof.'
I never did. Lovely. But the hankering and passion for one disappeared.
There really are some superb old cars out there, eh?

I had a diecast toy "pagoda" SL with opening doors - it was produced by Siku. Can someone remind me why it was called a "pagoda" roof, when it looks nothing like the (Chinese) pagodas I've seen?'When I grow up I'm going to have one of those Mercedes with the dented roof.'

Certainly are. In those days, cars looked like cars.Gassing Station | Classic Cars and Yesterday's Heroes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
