Haven't seen one of these in awhile - Always thought they were DOG ugly especially as a rag top - time hasn't been kind/Improved the situation IMO:-

Aw don't say that! They're no lookers but there is something sensationally cool about a 900 (esp the Turbo 16s Aero)

I think of myself as quite open minded, but really struggle to understand the appeal of something like that. It’s like using a washing machine or television of similar vintage.
They're actually a very nice and relaxing car to drive. Not fast, poor on cornering and handling generally but, as long as you're not in a rush, a very comfortable place to be with loads of soft leather and thick carpets. They were fitted with the B Series engines so relatively reliable compared to what else was around at the time.

I'm not sure if the one pictured is the A55 (I think it is), which would have had the 1500 engine, or the A60 with the massive 1622cc, though as I'm older than the car I'm entitled to get confused. smile

I'd really like a little run round in one of those just for old time's sake but, as they rotted faster than an 80s Lancia, there aren't many left on the road nowadays.
I reckon the banger racing boys have killed as many Farina's over the years as has the dreaded tin worm.

Refering to the 'DOG' ugly Saab 900 - posted earlier, wasn't that just a Vauxhall with a poor bodykit, seemed to remember saabs from that era were?
Here;s an old pic of an OK Saab - 79 or '80 Lombard RAC rally I think - with the original STIG at the Wheel smile
Ain't seen one of these in the flesh for years mind you;)

....From what I've heard about Citroen CX's, there's a good chance that this car was anything but a "perfectly-good CX", and a very good chance that it would no longer exist at all, in any way shape or form.
Hearing about them is not good enough. You need to see them and try them.

I've got a perfectly good one.

Great picture. That DB4 was my car of the day, although the Espada ran it close.

No ,the cabriolet pictured is referred to now as a classic 900 ,designed ,in about 1983/4, well before GM "saved" SAAB.

The "new gen" 900 in 1993my was very poor IMO ,working at a dealer at the time.

No. Just about to follow another vintage car, on the correct side of the road, and heading up the hill

the newer plates are more visible and I put white/yello plates on mine even though it (currently) qualifies for the black ones for just this reason.
I remember back in the day people with black/silver plates binning them off in order to put new white and yellow ones on as it made their cars look younger!

Yep, I can remember my Dad doing exactly that, probably around 1972/3-ish, with the plates on his Vauxhall Victor FB estate.... smile

My dad was really peeved when his brand new vehicle turned up in 1970 bearing silver on black plates. They were updated to reflective ones pronto!

I still have that vehicle AND the original plates (!) which I am considering putting back on it!
