Back in the day I wouldn't be able to see past an Ur Quattro or 944 if I was in the market for one of these, yet now, 30 years later, I'm quite drawn to a V6 Turbo GTA. Fabulous looking things. Were they all mouth and no trousers though? I assume it wouldn't see which way a 944 went.
With the six cylinder engine dangling just in front of the rear bumper, it was more of a 911 alternative than the 944. It's a very capable sports car. I ran one in conjunction with an Esprit Turbo SE back in the day. The Esprit was quicker off the line, but they both had a wonderfully communicative chassis and impressive grip. The GTA was much easier to live with though and was most definitely the everyday car of the two. Light steering, easy clutch and cabin space were all plus points.

The owner of that car brought it to my house a while back when he bought some E28 parts off me. He has a few classics, including the very rare 635 CSL. I can’t make out the badge on that photo but I think that’s the more common CSI which he uses fairly regularly.

A few pages ago, you said he came round to yours in a 635 CSi, and this is the second time you've mentioned a 635 CSL. I still maintain that it doesn't exist. He has a few classics, including the very rare 635 CSL. ETA: It's just occurred to me that you're mixing up the E9 (pictured) with the later E24.
And yes, that's nota CSL

i didn’t see your earlier reply. I only have the guy’s word for it, as I’ve not seen the csl myself. ETA: It's just occurred to me that you're mixing up the E9 (pictured) with the later E24.

I suppose I could call him and go have a look but it seems a bit cheeky. He’s only up the road from me though.
Eta: out of interest, why do you think it doesn’t exist?

Because to the best of my knowledge, they never built a 635 CSLMy mistake.

That was me being a half wit and not knowing my bmw coupes from that era. He turned up in the 635 CSa (which is what I should have written), and then proceeded to tell me about the CSL he had. I put two and two together and made 3 as regards the nomenclature.
My mistake.
No worries I wasn't sure if you were mistaken or if he was stringing you a line.My mistake.

70’s BMW’s have never really been on my radar, I was more of an 80’s guy, so I just made assumptions rather than bothering to go Googling. Criminal I know .

The Karmann Ghia, that’s nice and rare
Even rarer in RHD I'd think.I used to have a similar LHD Convertible and I never saw a rhd one in the flesh at all the vw shows I used to go to.
