My money is on an Audi 80 in that very light metallic green. Probably a 2-door.

Still convinced that the Volvo is a 340, not a 240.

If not a Transcontinental Vauxhall, how about a Viscount? I'll go for a Fiat 128 as the 'blue car.'
Yes, I typed one while thinking the other. Not a 240 at all. Corrected by Dapster.

I take it this was Birmingham way? It doesn't get much further due to it's thirst. smile

I happen to know that the car in question belongs to the owner of Torqueflow Exhausts who are based within MSL Performance in Small Heath. Brought over from the States a couple of years back with a knackered engine, though that wasn't known at the time, so while that was being replaced it was treated to air suspension and a full respray, amongst many other things

A friend sent me this link today. A real period piece and as he said, a car spotter's dream.

Plenty of PH anorak potential there!
Too right...particularly the title 'Op.: "Torrey Canyon" '

It is perhaps the most undeveloped site in that set, the car park sign being possibly the most permanent feature. Not everyday you find the services carrying out urgent works using trucks and a Wessex, not to mention the RAF repeatedly bombing the stricken tanker with an array of jets (all low level stuff) until it's destroyed. An interesting event!

I do like the lines of the Cortina estate. Handsome thing.

Can you have a word with them about those wheels? The originals are sooo much nicer.

I'm not a fan of US cars generally, but have an original ad poster of the '66 Cadillac here on my study wall. (I also like the '71 Dodge Coronet for some strange reason)

Originals are no good, it needs a set of Astro Supremes to go with the Bellflowers.

Clockwise from the silver Volvo 343

Silver Volvo 343
Maroon Jaguar XJ6? (what looks like a vinyl roof is, I think, sunlight reflecting int he rear window - you ca see the same thing in the white Cortina)
Green Austin Montego (the large badge on the bootlid is a giveaway IMO)
White Ford Cortina (Mk5)
Green VW Derby / Audi 80? I'm not so sure. In close-up, the waistline looks like a Ford Orion
Red Vauxhall Cavalier
White VW Golf (Mk1)
Maroon Dunno
Blue Seat Ibiza (Or Lada Samara smile )
Green Austin Mini
White Fiat 131
Harlequin Austin Allegro Estate
Red Austin Alllegro
Yello Ford Escort (MK3)
White FordTransit
Blue Vauxhall Astra
Grey Austin Mini Van
Blue Vauxhall Cavalier
Blue Ford Escort Estate (Mk1)
Blue Yugo 45 / Zastava. Probably a Yugo, given the date
Yellow Vauxhall Chevette
Maroon Austin Montego
Blue Renault 18

On the pier, I reckon you have a Honda Acclaim, Rover SD1 and Ford Granada (Mk2)

Oh, and driving down the road is a white Ford Fiesta

Definitely not a Jag XJ, as the rear chrome bumper wrap around stops a long way before the rear arch, and on a XJ it continues right up to the arch.

OK, fair enough.

In that case, it's a De Tomaso Deauville. smile

Oh I have, I can assure you. Not necessarily to put the originals back on but a decent set of period alloys would suit it nicely.

I thought it was something they'd put over the back window to shade the interior.

I'll go for a fiat 128 and a Fiat Regata either side of the white Cortina and a Toyota Starlet in place of the white Fiesta, the maroon one is work in progress.

Large Maroon Saloon - ????
Black saggy arsed thing is a Yugo 311
Then the white Cortina
Green things - boot sticks out too far for a VW Derby - rear wheelarch is very far forward and in front of the C pillar compared to the Cortina so it could be a 2 door saloon
I don't think the white parked hatchback is a Mk 1 Golf - rear wiper would be parked vertically on a Mk1 and the hatch is steeper. Talbot Horizon possibly?
The one moving is a Starlet

Is the large maroon thing a Volvo 244 with a cloth / sun flare distorting the rear?

The pale green one is difficult. It seems quite petite compared to the Cortina. Really struggling with that one. If matey boy in the Geordie jeans would move we'd have a chance.

White hatch defo not a Golf. Still mulling it over.

Dapster, I think the C pillar is too narrow but it's a good call.

I'm enjoying this.
