Are you kidding? That's a brilliant spot. I'd have been chuffed to bits to see that. The Corsair was one of the rare occasions Ford did elegant.

Weren’t they also sold as the AutoBianchi A112, or was that a different car? Did an Arbarth version too.

The black car is an Innocenti, just done a reg check.

It was written all over it, too.

They were all Innocenti Minis. There was a 90L, a 120L and the De Tomaso. Which had De Tomaso badges, a bonnet bulge, a deep front air dam and yellow fog lights, like the one on the photo.

Autobianchi A112s were based on the Fiat 128. the Innocenti Moini was a rebodied Mini, and was even considered as a direct replacement for it.

I don't like it, but I suppose it's 'cool' .
Super rare Ford Pubic estate. Didn't they have a problem with handling due to the front end design causing lift.

They handled reasonably OK. You’re not thinking of the (American) Corvair are you?

The one that (I think) Ralph Nader wrote a book about called 'Dangerous At Any Speed'...?

Funny to think of a Corsair going fast enough to generate anything at all, nevermind lift. hehe

Odd that they coexisted with the Cortina which seemed to do everything that the Corsair did. Perhaps it was perceived to be slightly more upmarket car.
Slightly before my time in terms of understanding Ford's thinking on this.

Also sold as the Lancia A110 in other markets. Who knew?

This was mentioned somewhere or other on here recently and I was ready to dispute it but looked on Wikipedia first

which confirmed it.

From what I can remember of them they transcended the Mk 1 and Mk 2 Cortinas and were fitted with V4s, either the 1700 or 2000 in the 2000E Model. They were certainly comfier than the Mk 1 Cortinas and Corsair seats were acquired by many of us Cortina owners at the time, as were the excellent close ratio 2000E gearboxes.

They managed to rust in all the same places as they were pretty much based on the Cortina floorpan, though this meant lots of interchangeable parts, which was important to a teenage me at the time. smile

The Ford Consul Classic and Capri also overlapped the MK1 Cortina ,also much the same size but with more style and the

Anglia style reversed rear window.

My BiL had a 4 door Classic whilst dating my sister in the late 70s.

Why did the Consul and Capri stay in production for 3 years or so?

Sorry for the poor pic but what is this.

1960s 2 Door Saloon about the size a Viva or Anglia. Done a reg check but VAM667D comes up as a Gold Dodge. Fairly flat bonnet and a pair of rectangular headlights IIRC.
