Some good spots there! I hadn't noticed the stickers were wrong.

What are the weird fins in front of the rear lights?

Mine has those. as far as I can see they seem to be some sort of mount for (non-existent!) rear light guards. I guess the guards slot into those holes and the somehow fix at the other end too.

What do the experts reckon to this? Clearly updated interior etc

1972 yet a 4 door body and "UN" plates. Something to do with Torcars of Torrington? They did a one-off rising roof camper based on the Range Rover and also built hatchback Princesses before the Ambassador.

Any thoughts?

It just looks like a 90s car that's had a VIN plate change?

Not sure why the picture of text about the Monteverdi as they didn't appear until the end of 79 and the rear door has a sloped back edge rather than vertical as on the factory 4 door.

as above. a newer car thats been lightly backdated to look old and match the L reg

4 doors, air con, automatic, dash, seats etc all say newer car / older ID

lots of nasty details like the 2 sets of mirrors, chrome wheel edges and extra reflectors

in essence: nasty. or if you want to be more positive, like a DIY Kingsley Cars "retro mod"

Given the prices of some of their mainstream stock, it would suggest this is also rather optimistic!

At least they are honest!

My LSE is coming along, not may pictures to share, but there is progress. We're aiming to have metal work done by the end of July, with August then dedicated to paint prep. Hopefully ready for September ish.

Suspect the white one is just a bitsa with a later body on an early chassis as a tax dodge, seemed common at one time.

not necessarily a tax dodge - there are no penalty points in the points system for change of body so any vehicle which has a separate chassis (e.g. this RR) can have any body you like and it doesn't affect the identity - as long as you haven't had to change the chassis - take a vehicle with a monocoque body / chassis - then it is a different issue...

Landy bonnet mirrors also. No idea what the door mirrors are.

No one is going to strip and fit a late 90s interior to a body and then for it to a '73 chassis. It's got to be a whole body and drivetrain dropped into either a '73 chassis or more likely a new chassis with a VIN from a '73 car?

When they were worthless, lots of things got put together in sheds. It's a mix anyway - open fuel filler but concealed front door hinges etc.

No, but a fairly popular way of having a tax-exempt four door.

true - but arguably as valid as any other body conversion...

the issue with this one might be how it is represented (i.e. as early 4 door) if in fact it is not - irrelevant of the point system that could be fraudulent

Of course, sure several had four-door body sides fitted as well as complete body swaps. Easy to tell if the chassis is pre-mid '80s by rear shock position etc.

What is clear is that it's an undesirable mash-up of bits that isn't worth fourteen grand.
