Thanks chaps, I'll check those. It does also have an expensive installation of Voldegas on it but the performance seems similar with both fuels.

Happily, the gas installation is properly certified and registered, which means I can drive it in london without lining Comrade Khan's T-charge pocket.

There's no LPG exemption.

Enough ideas there to keep you away from the thread for another month. wink

Interesting. I thought there was. if I put my reg in the T-Charge checker, it says mine is exempt. However, if I put the reg in of a similar, but petrol only RRC (reg number randomly lifted from an eBay listing) it says that car is liable to pay.

If there is no LPG exemption then why are two otherwise-similar cars treated differently?

my classic is exempt (94 LSE petrol - no. lpg)
The t-charge website is so flawed I confirmed each of my cars and have had written confirmation back that the RR is exempt

So I finally took the plunge...given up being a long time lurker here and bought my first Range Rover classic.

Its Roman Bronze with c 27k on the clock and seems to be pretty sound.

First step is to get it somewhere for a full change of fluids and a check over. Any alternatives in Warwickshire/Oxfordshire to Twenty Ten or are they the place to go?

I also want to get on and waxoyl it...any thoughts?

There are definitely more knowledgable people than me around these parts but I have a feeling the fuel lines are all n/a now and you have to make your own solution up?

One of the advisories on my MOT today was "fuel line slightly corroded" - I genuinely don't know how I'll tackle that.

Because the database TfL are using is woefully inaccurate - I’m not sure if there’s a pattern to what is being wrongly-exempted, but there are plenty of other examples of similar cars returning different results.

According to TfL’s own rules, if it doesn’t meet Euro 4/IV emissions standards, and isn’t over 40 years old, you’re going to get fleeced. (I’m far more bothered by the extended ULEZ nonsense, but that’s not for here).

Morning. The chap who is doing the work on my 2 door had to fabricate new lines for it. He had everything that was required to make a set that matched the originals.

Would you like me to ask him? We’re based near Stow so possibly not too far from you.

It is why I started the restomod on my 72. Just to have a practical, family car that was fun to be in and use when pottering about Town.

MINE'S JUST PASSED IT'S BLOODY MOT!!

Last MOT expired nearly 3 years ago, and those of you who have bene on this thread for a long time might recall all the aggro I had with the poor running, etc, ages back. Anyway, I cracked on with everything I could find that it needed recently and got it through.

Went to my usual little old place to get to done, to be confronted with a new bloke I'd never seen before, who proceeded to go over it VERY thoroughly. I've come away with the longest list of advisories I've ever had on any car, but they are mostly things like "brake pipe showing slight corrosion" or "shock absorber bushes showing signs of wear". (That's 8 for a start biggrin )

So, now I can drive it and find out what else is wrong with it. For a start the heater fan only runs on max. Also, I really don't think it performs like it should, it trundles along quite happily but I reckon my 3.5 carb Defender is probably more perky than this. It feels like it's towing something heavy.

We'll see. For now I think I'll just enjoy wafting around in it for a bit.

@Cliff - if you're reading this, I got there! I'll drop you a line separately anyway.
Great news, well done, would love to see it👍

Suppose I’ll just have to use the uncatalysed 5.9 or 6.6 V8s instead...

Thank you - I think you are right - it is locating the connectors that seems to be tricky...

Thank you - that would be great - we (my chap - not me I am hopeless!) have no problem fabricating the lines - it is the connectors we seem to be having difficulty finding - so it would be very helpful to find out what he did... I am just the other side of Burford, so not far away smile Frustrating to see everyone playing in the snow today and the RR is in the garage! I will PM you with contact details, if you were happy to find out that would be very kind of you...

Cheers Cliff. It's reasonable enough but no concours contender! Let me know when you're heading to Gary's sometime and I'll pootle over.

just finishing off the work to my 1990 overfinch ... new bonnet decals new wheels and 255/70 R16 tyres plus a new spare wheel cover all coutesy of the invalubale advice on here
now to sell it .... any advice on where would be the best place ? I did have it on here and car and classic but now I'm thinking ebay would be the best showcase trouble is I've seen a few decent ones not even make reserve ...I think the trouble with ebay is everyone's looking for a real bargain and unfortunately the restored ones aren't cheap enough for them and once its been on there and it doesn't sell you get the feeling its set a marker
any advice much appreciated

just taken some pictures of the new wheels and tyres and new front and rear lettering and got a spare wheel cover too
so hopefully got most of the detailing right at last
still trying to ascertain value ..I know DonkeyApple doesn't like the bodywork kit but it was going to end up a pretty major job to take it all off
and I reckoned the new owner could always decide to do it if he wanted
you see prices for them all over the shop .wouild asking in the region of 20k be unrealistic ?
seems a lot but it would still be less than the resto cost and its got good history right back to the first owner ...
