Cheers folks.

Fired her up and took the folks out in her for a midday pint, and then lunch after.

Mum enjoyed the extra LSE legroom in the back!

All parked up now, needs taxing on the 1st Jan then she’s on the fleet properly wink
Very nice, I assume it was registered at the factory or certainly somewhere near given the KAC registration ?

But the restomod 4 door continues to progress

Slowly!

Superb work, also saw the pictures of the completed car. Lovely. What kind of color is it? Could it be Nardo Grey?

It’s an ex-works car, was registered to Land Rover for the first two years of its life.

There is such thing as the CVC register which keeps track of factory owned land rovers.

Been out in mine today with MrsC and the dogs, it's a nice old thing to waft around in. Tried to fill up the LPG, petrol station pump didn't work, apparently the LPG had frozen up! Didn't know that happened. All good, got some somewhere else.

Lpg pumps can take an age in the cold. I recall going into the garage to ask if it was working to be told just wait until it comes through. It did in the end.

Happily, the gas installation is properly certified and registered, which means I can drive it in london without lining Comrade Khan's T-charge pocket.
There's no LPG exemption.
Interesting. I thought there was. if I put my reg in the T-Charge checker, it says mine is exempt. However, if I put the reg in of a similar, but petrol only RRC (reg number randomly lifted from an eBay listing) it says that car is liable to pay.

If there is no LPG exemption then why are two otherwise-similar cars treated differently?
my classic is exempt (94 LSE petrol - no. lpg)
The t-charge website is so flawed I confirmed each of my cars and have had written confirmation back that the RR is exempt
I was thinking about this again earlier. If I take a print of the T-Charge page which says mine is exempt, then drive into London, can I either expect not to get a fine letter, and/or produce the screen dump as mitigation and not have to pay the fine?
In theory yes, but I would confirm wih them, they were very efficient at checking and confirming the specific car for me - I think that would be enough to justify arguing any attempt to charge - I would expect the online checker to come with caveats as it seems to be terribly inaccurate

The first of possibly many questions wink

The RRC Vogue SE - does it have heated seats as standard or were they an option? If the seats are heated, where are the switches? No sign of them mine.

Heated as standard on Vogue SE. My soft dash has the buttons for heated seats with the window switches on the centre console. I think hard dash ones are there too.

Hmm, odd. Mine's a VSE but no sign of any heated seat switches!

Don't panic, even if you did have them they would not work

I think Paddock, Rimmers and 4x4 mostly use the same core suppliers. There are a few tiny suppliers who deal in the very early and rare stuff.

Heated front seats were new for the 1992 model year, standard on the SE from then.

town and country...such a versatile machine that never looks out of place

about 800 miles since I collected it from Twenty Ten

I will take it back in a month or so for a spanner check and oil / filter change

I'm loving the whole experience albeit the dampers or springs are too stiff and whilst it takes corners well the primary ride is too harsh...will sort that

might also investigate a different exhaust. Should it have 1 or 2 outlets at the back?

i also want to get better seals fitted round the windows.

aside from that loving it and rarely ever had a more positive reaction from other road users

happy new year all. May 2018 be a good year of RRC fun

I read about a method of additional sealing for the doors using the following

http://www.flyingspares.com/shop/rolls-royce-bentl...

I haven't tried it though.. I found that alot of the wind noise in my car was from the little plastic triangles that provide access to the side mirrors not being correctly seated..
