biggrin 'have a lot of receipts for parts...' but which parts?!
an easy car to remove - an afternoon with a screwdriver / knife / hammer would make it look like a range rover!
I particularly like "Anything that ever needed doing on the car was done straightaway" including a whole load of stuff that never needed doing. Only saving grace is that he has lots of receipts so you might be able to take some of it back!

Well done, that didn’t take long & it looks like you did ok.

I did wonder when, or if, you were going to fess up on here.
Cheers Cilff, kept my head down whilst it was ongoing. Yes, I think I got a fair price for it, pretty much impossible to price accurately with all the variables and all the others for sale. Pick a price between £500 & £25000!

Cappo, are you sure you don't want another one. This will be going up for sale soon! (the silver one)

Just stop! (And I won't be bidding on the "lovely" burgundy diesel either (tat level aside, "diesel Rangie" is something of an oxymoron in my book).

Thought I'd drop a few pics in of what I'm up to with my classic. The Niagara grey soft dash in the previous pic is having a fair bit of mechanical work done. Rebuilt engine is now installed and running - sounds lovely. It's had some head work, + Real Steel Stump Puller cam so it should be showing some healthy increases over standard bhp & torque. It would be good to get it on a dyno as I think previously I'd be lucky if it was chucking out 150bhp.

The gearbox is currently being rebuilt down at Ashcroft and I should be getting that back mid month after it chewing up the planet gear set. This is what started the rebuild - gear box goes, might as well take engine out, might as well do a refresh, might as well uprate the cam, might as well get the heads done, blah, blah, blah you know how man maths works! Upgrading the ignition system is next on the list to make the most out of the mods.

Pics of wrecked planet gears and the engine before it was installed

New member here, pretty much made up an account to post in this tread. I bought my first RRC, fell in love with the color when I first saw the add and I had to have it! It's a 1985 manual 3,5 V8 UK car and was imported to the Netherlands in the early 2000's. The chassis and body are pretty much solid, something I never expected to find for the price that I paid. It was used until 2005 I believe and parked in a barn ever since.

I'm trying to find out more about the color, is it a factory color? It reminds me of the ninety/one ten county's, so far I haven't found anything online about this two tone color. It looks factory and defiantly looks very 1980's! Looking forward to restore this old girl, already bought new coils, plugs, wires, fuel filters and all the other basic service items

Looks great doesn’t it. Ive not seen that combo before, just the Leyland ‘Piss n Pooh’ combo which also looks good.

I keep following this thread, always enjoyable. I just got back into a 4.2 Supercharged - but still love the Classic 2-door.

Anyway, I stumbled across this classic bit of TV that made me smile, thought I would share....this was 1991, back when it was real Top Gear! ....and I was still at school hehe

Any idea where we are with values?

Have we gone down or remained static?

I've been approached by a buyer for my much underused late two door. It's low mileage, low owners and original but scruffy.

Any ideas?

I suspect that some are going up, some are remaining static, and some are worthless biggrin
the ones going up will be the rarer ones (early 2-door / CSK / run-out models / LSE soft dash / etc.)
for the rest, they are generally up on a few years ago, but not necessarily increasing a huge amount...

I suspect mine sits in the "not so interesting" pile as it's not an early one and it's not mint.

May just see how I feel on the day.

Does anyone have any advice on getting a 3.9 to make a bit more noise? I’m not looking for a max power solution but a bit more burble whilst looking stock.
Thanks in advance.

Depends how much they know about them, if they have got caught up in the hype about all classic landrovers / rangerovers being worth a fortune, then you might get a good deal, if they are yorkshire bred and canny about what migt need doing, then perhaps not!

exhaust...

remove the back box / put a straight through pipe on and you should get plenty of noise smile
options inbetween will vary noise level

Don't put a K&N cone on it. It just makes a horrible blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa type noise.
Exhaust for the burble.

Having sold my last RR Classic in 2005 and unlikely to own another sadly I am having a clear out.If any one is interested could they PM me.
Bonnet rust free hidden hinge version, several Vogue tubeless alloys, pair of genuine front Perspex light protectors and an unused Michelin XM+S 205-16 as fitted to early 2 door cars with rostyle wheels. Hope this doesn’t break any rules.
