Gijs van Lennep Classic 2014
Discussion
Anual tribute rally to Dutch racing legend and two times LM winner Gijs van Lennep. Jan Lammers was there as well.
Jag F-type Coupe - wow.
Dutch car journo Carlo Brantsen brought this stunning for all to admire.
Former Dutch Prime Minister JP Balkenende came in a mint 2.7.
It made quite a racket when it started up ... as it should.
Not quite as much hell raising as this TF winning car - legend.
Classic Porsche.

More Brit stampede:
The Morgan is an overlooked gem by those Who Don't Know. The car may look old fashioned - wooden frame! - but it's the closest thing to a TVR one can purchase today.
Refined it is not. Stylish . . . maybe. Either with a four, six or a V8 it will blast everyone's socks of. The 3.7 Ford is 295 bhp / tonne. That's enough to scare most Porsches. The BMW powered V8 models are weapons.
Cough ... what have we here?
It's a 1937 4.5 litre.
A Bentley sir.
1.5 tonnes of Brit Bulldog.
Perfect for an August sundaymorning.
More ... let's pick some Italian kits.

Duetto!
1300 gem from 1968.
Lurking inbetween the big cats.
Start of the rally - every one minute a car lifts off and often with a great soundbyte. The overhead cam Nord was no exception.
Alfa Romeo Spider Coda Tronca Iniezione - USA import.
Plates show no info but I guess this is a 2000.
More Alfa and Ferrari.
Ferrari:
Ferrari 500 Mondial SL Competizione? ERRA SD500 recreation with a 2 litre Alfa.
The outer dimensions seem a bit bigger than the original 1,5M car and the inside is without patina. Regs say this ERRA 500SD is on the road since 1970.
Yours for 300-400K. Tidy car!
I'm a sucker for a mustard colourd Alfa Romeo Giulia. This is a 1972 1300 Super.
Almost 500 brake of 5.5 litres V12 whizzing by: 550 Maranello. First front engined Ferrari flagship since the Daytona.
In the 60s Enzo Ferrari described the Jaguar E-type to be the most beautifull car ever made. The 550 is no match for the US spec late 4.2 S1.
Not bad at all. Classifieds show tidy cars as from 50K.
Next: Jaguar.

Jaguar:
Very nice US import 4.2 XKE.
And in the purrrrrfect colour.
Owner bought the car as a resto object: it's now near perfection and a daily driver.
Pretty soundbyte too.
Jaguar XKE 4.2 treasure. The S2 and V12 S3 cars don't do it for me. The S1 and S1.5 always look so good. Even in neglected state these have a magic quality.
Best FEC nose ever.
Next: Italian gems.

Fab XKE nose.
Jaguar built this magnificent sports saloon from 1959 to 1967. My dads best friend had one and I will never forget the swift journey we had when I was 8, in 1975. With 4 on the backseat and very much 100 mph ... it blew my mind. My dad had a Wolsely 16/60 back then.
Check the story here about when we found the car back ... after so many years!
Both the 140 and 150 XK Jaguars could not match the sheer beauty of the 120. The XK150 is the pick of the bunch though: real drivers car.
This is what it sounds like when a big straight six cries.
Drop Head Coupe beauty.
Next: Yank power.

The one to have:
For this moment the latest carnation of the GT3 is it. Brutal roar announces 475 brake on tap. A beast!
On a more modest note: 356 in the early morning sunshine.
I believe Jan Lammers drove this one.
Things you can do with a 911:
RSR rep it!
Highway Patrol it!
Last bit of Porsches
