Both very controversial, but imo time has been very kind to these as long as they are in original condition.

I think they're both "cool" in that they evoke a particular era for those of a certain age, or too young to know any better. I don't honestly think time has made them look any better, they both still have some weird awkward design features. The proportions of the TR are all wrong and the detailing on the XJS is just a muddle. But both matured into much nicer looking cars, I think both look great as convertibles and have matured well in that form.

The late XJS hardtops look great to me. I prefer them to the convertibles. I've got a hard top from 1992. It is broken, but will be fixed.

Not so sure myself. It's partly (mainly?) due to the fact that modern cars are so crushingly dull.

Modern porridge looks too alike. Think back 40 years when you had the Mark 4 Cortina, Passat and the Princess, all very distinct styles.

And don't have me start about the blinding headlamps in your rear view mirror.

J
I have a small, low sports car with a low seating position. I swear some of these behemoths have a bonnet line higher than my roof, and the lights are damned annoying both oncoming and in the mirrors.

Back to Bouncy !
I have just repressurised the Hydragas suspension on the Allegro. To refurbish the units, you have to replace the "lost" Nitrogen in the spheres then pump the fluid in to establish the correct height. What was before, a rock solid boneshaker, is now back to BL Bouncy.

Fitting being welded on to predrilled unit:

Fitted after pressure testing, charging, and painting.

Sitting Pretty! (Well I accept not pretty to everyone...)
I can now do the "Slamming Handbrake Rocking Trick" with suitable music eminating from the BL Radio. What would be suitable? Archers theme?

When the numbers thin out(which they are beginning to now I think) I reckon the prices will rocket up on the XJS.

Finally managed to break my habit of buying hopeless old Italian tat.

Bought this today -

P.S. BV - ref the other thread, my friend knows where there's a very nice Murena parked up waiting for a new owner!

Cheers!
I would break my imposed ban on any new cars if I could complete the set by getting a Hearing Aid Beige Ambassador - preferably Y reg.
I was tempted with the Ambassador VDP earlier but it is not beige.

Yup. Made an offer but not heard back. Assume sold. It was gold and not Beige. Mmm I can get a decent respray at a pretty good price from one of my contacts...(Edit to add - It has been sold).

If anyone knows of a Beige rust free Ambassador Let me know...

Whilst in a mood for pumping I adjusted the ride height on the Metro VDP to get her sitting back to the correct height. MIght have to mod the spheres on it one day too...and the Maxi...which is at least now running. Just ordered an electronic distributor for that.

If anyone has been tempted to dabble in the arcane field of shagging palaces by BV's classy mobile home purchase, how about this for some scuzzy competition?

Dagenham rather than BL, but appealing(!) interior inspired by the traveller-school of art.

Somewhat disturbingly, I find myself rather liking it.

That is getting me moderately excited. Who can fail to love an old Tranny that's got slightly saggy cushions, and may be a bit rusty around the tailpipe?
