I had the car for over two years and it was reliable and fun to drive.

I wish I had enough space and "wonga" to put in a bid on BV's Eclat. I saw a red one on the M5 on Friday, and thought "That looks great – I must have one." That fact that it was on the hard shoulder being loaded onto a flatbed didn't properly register until afterwards.

Am I alone in feeling more than slight unease about this?

In the manner of the ravens leaving the Tower of London, BV72 off-loading his BL schlonk can only be a harbinger of ill for those of us splashing around at the fiscal shallow-end of the classic car market

Two years? Well in excess of the normal useful life of an SD1. The new owner is on borrowed time.

A white early 3500 was the first car in which I remember being properly travel sick, on the way back from a school football match, so my feelings towards them might be thought to be somewhat skewed, but for balance my first girlfriend's dad also had one and recollections of that are somewhat more pleasant.

If you have no interest in classic cars and just want to parade your ignorance, why not just hang out in General Gassing?

Sorry. I had no idea that unfettered adulation for the SD1 was a prerequisite for a 'liking for classic cars'. I'll have a word with myself or something.

Next time make sure you haven't left your sense of humour in the boot before you let someone drive the car away.

Whatevs, etc.

You think you're incredibly funny, I think you're an ignorant bore. There's the difference.

It's kind of you to credit me with the power of thought, at least.

They were a bit rubbish when new, but that was 1000 years ago. Nice to see a few still going and the 2600 was the one I liked best tbh. What could have been....*sigh*

Shame the Sprint is going. They are such epic value compared to RS1600's and equally nice to see one been spanked regularly.

Recognising that I need another schlonker like I need a dose of the clap, I was strangely drawn to the idea of the Dolly....... until I looked at the ad and realised that you want exactly 100 times more than I paid for my last Dolly Sprint !!!!

Looks like a good example and seems reasonably priced to me.

Good luck finding a decent Sprint for £75.

Oh, I don't doubt it and, even in 1986, my £75 bought me a very indecent Sprint; it was just a salutary reminder of Anno Domini and that these things aren't cashpoint money snotters anymore but proper, grown-up classics (boo!)

Can't be more knackered than the one that's been rotting away for years near my office.
