Could the roof (or at least a portion of it) be from a Humbre Sceptre, on backwards?

The way the side screen sits against the rear screen is very familiar when looking at the A-pillar on our mystery car.

Didn't we already decide it definitely was a Super Minx back screen?

Don’t forget that the only real picture of the car has a woman’s head obscuring most of the A pillar so no one really knows for sure what it looks like.

Defo not a combined Sceptre rear screen and roof - what you can't see in the picture of the Sceptre above is that the rear screen disappears under the roof into quite a large recess.

Didn't we all agree it looks like Bill Nighy?

Yes, I think so. I may have missed it but I hadn't actually before looked at the car it came from and assumed it was just a "that'll do" decision. It was only on looking a bit more that I saw the other similarities and threw some google time at it.

I suppose I was hoping I'd spot or find something that had been overlooked previously or some obscure old website or auction listing or...

Variants on searching humber special/custom/auction/gullwing/doors/coachbuilt etc.

I know it has already been discussed but saw more about the Sabra here - http://boitierrouge.com/2015/11/09/autocars-de-la-...

It's a fair ol' bit of double-curvature, isn't it?

I wonder where it started life...

<grin> I doubt that was moulded specially... Must've been borrowed from a parts bin somewhere.

Was the designer of the Sabra an escapee from East Germany?
One of his other efforts earlier:

That's a Trabi (Trabant) 601 surely! Nothing to do with Sabra.

Oh, I realise that, but wherever or whatever it's from, it was 'fitted' at Tamworth.
Like you, I've no idea but a 'vehicle' parts bin, I'm doubting. What the hell it is or was from, who knows?

Because the 'round' rear screen was very quickly abandoned for a conventional rear screen I'm suspecting it must have been something scarce - because, as everyone so far has stated, it really looks cool.
Then again it was 1961 so maybe not so then?

Someone must know.
This could get as bad as the mystery car itself!

Just for interest, few years later in 67 the Sabra (in Israel factory) with 'more' conventional rear screens.

Indeed it is/isn't respectively.
I was struck by the similarity of the front of the Trabi and the Sabra(s), wished to share and pointed it out in what I thought was a mildly humorous manner.
I'll telegraph better next time smile

Here's a shot of the production rear screen on the car that I used to own, toughened glass made by Triplex. I suspect that the one shown in the Sabra brochure may have been perspex as quite often happened with low volume sports cars/prototypes. I am sure that someone will correct me if I am wrong.

Fair point. I have an excuse - the time I posted (nodding off!).
