Does anyone know where we can find the latest instalments of the B72/StrongComputer (aka Sorted, 3DEngineers) ‘discussion’?

I was enjoying the retrorides thread and we were promised some sort of showdown on Tuesday involving irrefutable evidence but unfortunately the RR thread was locked (boo).

Despite some of the attitudes involved, I do still enjoy the discussion.

I didn't know Retro thread had been closed. Just before the 'Reveal' as well.
So sad...
Was it to be some sort of Sunbeam I wonder?
I'm not convinced by that theory.

Good post. Sums it up for me ... Sunbeam Alpine my arse ...

We don’t know it hadn’t been finished the day before and was totalled on the A4 20 mins after this shot was taken ...

I am. There is no way anyone would spend the amount of time required create a montage of a made-up car into that photo of a bus for a book about buses. It would be a reasonable sized project now, with all the facilty of Photoshop and the CGI renders that we see on this very thread. Back then, and knowing how tight editorial production budgets are, not a chance.

Otherwise I agree completely, it's a little home-built or coach built one-off project we probably never get to the bottom of. I'm in the 'not an Alpine' camp too.

I was in an Alpine today and whilst the styling does put you in mind of an Alpine, this is quite clearly a notably smaller car. The wheelbase in particular.

For anyone interested, "Unsorted" is back................

"I believe the car is prop for a movie. However I know what the car in the picture is based on. It is 100% a Sunbeam Alpine".

There's also the Hillman Ghimp prototype and more here........

The term "100%" & the phrase "absolutely guarantee" seem somewhat grandiose, considering the only concrete piece of indisputable data is the picture of the car in the book. "All the research I've done.." or "as far as I can ascertain..." seem a bit more realistic.

It’s like Unsorted is now on some unholy pilgrimage to bring Sunbeam belief to other lands.
I wonder how his new campaign will end. hehe

If it's a prop for a movie then surely someone would have seen that and identified it somewhere along the way.

I do like the theory mooted on the Autosport forum that it's possibly an Ashley Kit car one off.

No way would anyone got to all the trouble and expense of making that car as a prop, for a movie that literally no one has ever seen. That's nonsense. (for clarity I know it's not borrani saying that)

Apparently 1958 in Italy.

My guess is perhaps a custom thing based on a 600 Multipla?

Not well, I can guarantee. He even emailed me through the Z forum to challenge my Sunbeam Alpine my arse comment ... I look forward to reading his thesis on why he can guarantee it has Alpine underpinnings.

It does look a bit like a Sunbeam. Or bits of it look a bit like a Sunbeam.

I'm 100% certain, and can absolutely guarantee I have no idea what it is.

Though some people go to great lengths to make one off cars for tv and film.

I'm not sure who it was, but someone connected to Ashley Laminates has confirmed that it's not something that came out of their stable.

Indeed. My own experiments with superimposing photos of Alpines (a few pages back) would certainly support that.

My current best guess is that it's a special based on a 6'9"-wheelbase Austin 7 chassis, along the lines of an Ashley 750, though not necessarily related.

Another possibility is that it was built on a shortened adaptation of a longer chassis, which doesn't really narrow it down at all...

Not trawled through the thread as I have come from the other closed one. But GSM Delta was my first thought, with the optional hardtop.

I think after a hundred pages of debate and the huge amount of knowledge/brain power turned at this, this is the only explanation.

With all the 3D modelling work that has been undertaken there must now be enough detail for it to be reproduced.
If someone recreated it today and didn’t publicise it online then they could have great fun driving it around London and then sitting back and waiting for the forums to erupt. hehe
