Righto, thanks I'm not sure it's a semi-boat - I suspect that's an overrider. However, I'm also not convinced by the Kamm tail in the renderings. I'm more comfortable with a back end something along the lines of a TR3, which was more 'contemporary'. A Kamm tail would have been pretty radical back then and, given it would only have been cosmetic rather than aerodynamic, I think it unlikely.
Thanks for the Butterworth TR photo .. I never new W&P did so many variants including one offs for customers .....
This is the rear of my Ashley with the lower rear boot below the fixed (but curved) rear window ... the rear lights should have a rear slope like the mystery car ...

The only car I know of with a flat glass rear is the Fairthorpe TX SS ... you can sort of see where different bits of styling came from.
Still no cigar though ...

I’m just looking at the curved line under the rear valance. It almost looks like the pic has been cut out of magazine and then put over a pic of the location. (Oxford Street?) Also, why isn’t anybody looking at or acknowledging the car...
...except for the three men who are walking round the back of it and the lady in red who hasn't walked into it.Loose_Cannon said:
Writhing - Ive been thinking the car looks a bit unnatural since about page two. Regardless of the people around it the picture has definitely been touched in to accentuate the car, i.e. the light lines below the front and rear valances. Why? for no other reason than to make the car look nice and stand out. Theres something about the back that looks very unnatural and touched in, I wouldn't be surprised if it was artistically enhanced to the point of being a cartoon. Where are the moon landing photo conspiricists when you need them?
Got to admit, that have often felt same way re front and rear valances.Rear screen brought out further to back of car by 30mm, track reduced by about 40mm. Have also added screen rubbers, wipers, bumper brackets, interior (total guess), number plate light and fuel filler... plus loads of rads all over car.
Still about 20% or so away from goal and now need to sort out textures (colours/general feel) and image mapping on dials, headlight glass etc.

I think the rear would be more like the old Ashley that has just been posted - much easier to fabricate surely? If you have a sloping tail like the rendition, then you get some uncomfortable shapes to the inside of the rear lights - you get an outer wing and a bit of an inner wing (between the light lens and the hacked off tail, far better that the back of the car meets the rear light section like the Ashley. Pure opinion on my part obviously!
All possible, and looking at Ashley pictures I realise have forgotten to add boot hinges. Dammit!!! Gassing Station | Classic Cars and Yesterday's Heroes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
