Social media also said that car belongs to a person who is in jail hence the history if true.

Well I agree with the judge. It is indeed criminal to leave a car like that like that.

Charlie Croker had a better scheme for his DB4 Convertible.

Is currently taxed but didn’t look like it had moved in a while. Early split oval screen on an L plate - presumably imported in ‘72/‘73. Horrible long number plate does it no favours …
It's not right. Rear lights and bumper are wrong. I suspect it is actually a 72/73 model with a body kit.
You can still see the outline of the original larger rectangular rear window.
Regardless of age, it should have twin pea shooter exhausts near the centre line. This one must have had an engine swap too

My guess is that it’s a 63-66 built car, despite the 1973 registration. For a car that generally looked the same throughout the years it was built, VW did make regular subtle changes to it.

Oh, and two into one tailpipes are readily available and an easy and common mod so it likely has the standard engine in place.

The side windows (rear) are too large for a 60's model. It's definitely a 70's model.

I was into the VW scene in a huge way in my late teens, had a '69 Cal-look beetle, '61 Split camper, and a brief fling with a 412 Squareback! I'd say it's a '60's car (minus the engine looking at the camber of the rear wheels) - boot lid and rear lights are the right shape - '70's cars had the bigger rear lights and a different shaped boot lid.

Mods on the car were really common in the early '90's and everyone wanted a split or oval screen, a company called Wizard roadsters manufactured them from fiberglass. The exhaust was also a really common mod so you could fill the two exhaust pot holes in the rear skirt to make a nicer shape to the bottom of the car, and exit the exhausts behind the rear wheels.

I'd wager there isn't much left of the floor pan and sills, the heat exchanger for the blowers runs along the inside of the sills - combo of British weather, road salt, cheap steel and warm air meant most sills had to be changed and re-welded every few years......

Ah, brings back nostalgic memories......pictures of me the day I picked up my '61 Split.

Someone's put that panel in, as mentioned you can still see the outline of the original big rear window.

Citrine yellow - relatively rare colour. Can’t be many left!

It's a 2.6 Audi cabriolet. S2 were all 2.2 5-cylinder turbo, I think, and (in the UK at least) all coupe or Avant.
