Doris has revealed an old T2 Bentley at my local industrial estate.
Doesn't look too shabby !

Looks tidy.

Do you have a photo that shows the BMW E36 in front of it?

It has EVO spec rear lights, so it could be a more modern classic....

That Bentley looks great! Would love to find one of those hiding away near me, though rust scares me!

Does this count as a hero of yesteryear? laugh About to finish on Ebay but nobody's opened the bidding which starts at £600!!

My thoughts exactly! The best bit is that the back is wooden, so the whole package is bound to be rotten through. jester

If you've ever seen some of the side streets in Japan then you'd understand the need for the them!

That's because computerised MOTs didn't start till much later than its last time on the road.

Were these still current in 1981 X reg ? or possibly re-imported from somewhere else ?
The DVLA site suggests that it was manufactured and built in 1979, so not sure how it can wear an X plate?

Interesting, the DVLA has it as an X-reg car that was registered in October 1979. I don't think I've seen exactly that mistake before

It was even more interesting to me. I was reading it as an X-rated car.

Almost certainly imported from Northern Ireland in 1980/1. I imported a Lada at that time and it got an X plate, though was a 78 car and it said so on the log book. Only lasted a couple of years before they started issuing age related plates to an imported NI car. So the 79 reg and the X plate would be consistent and not a DVLA mistake.

Which in its turn was, of course, the economy version of the Morris Oxford...

My friend sent me these from the farm they were staying on down in southern Portugal (near Portimao). Nothing too special tbh.

Though I think I need to get a decent shot of the poor old Supra Mk3 that seems to be gathering moss down here in Lutterworth. Saw it on my walk back from the Ford garage and couldn't help thinking it needs some loving.

I've seen this old truck on my lunchtime wander a few times. I'm not into trucks but the pale blue one looks quite cool.

This is an Audi I think, that's is presuming the hub caps are original? It's been In the same spot since I've lived here which is around 4 years now.

It is indeed an Audi.

A 2.1L which likely means it's a 5 cylinder I think.

First registered in October 1980 and the tax ran out on 01 November 2000.

I don't think I've ever seen a 5 cylinder in that body shape (also shared with VW Passat)

A desirable understated car back in its day

Second generation Audi 100 B2. My dad had 2 of these. The first one was a 100 Avant L. This shape, the original "Avant". Dad's one had a 1588cc 4 pot 85bhp VW motor. Not 185bhp. 85bhp. The second had slightly more going on in the trouser department, 136bhp from the in line 5, 2144 cc injection engine, a 100 GL 5E saloon. The one in the picture above, is the "5S" which had the carb fed version with 115bhp.

They were good cars from the generation before Audi were standing toe to toe with Mercedes and BMW. Dad sold the second one for a Merc W123 and it was night and day better in every way. These days, an A6 is arguably better built, more sophisticated and more classy than a E class, but thirty years ago, it was a different story.
