No! Rover 800. Clothed as it is mid afternoon and working.

Definitely a Finnish connection, going by the rear screen decal.

So, how do you account for the note that the Murena pre-dates the Rover 800 by about six years? Murena 1980-1983, Rover 800 1986-1999.

Another poster on here mentioned it:

Cheers!
The Murena's rear lights are probably to be found on other French cars of the early 80s, but I don't know which ones off hand.
Unfortunately, they are unique to the car and very hard (and expensive!) to find. They were taken from the Simca Horizon, and the base units (the bit you screw the lamps in, basically) are the same, but the Murena light covers have some kind of extension so they will fit the curved corner of the car.

Some parts are in production again (like the rear trailing arms) but I haven't seen new rear light covers yet.

This just appeared on a P5 facebook group, kept in the same family since new, an early P5B Coupe in Warrington looking for a new home, looks bad but I think it could be salvageable...

I’d wager just suitable for spares sadly. Love the P5; esp the coupe version.

^^^ I'm part way through David Barber's book on Marcos - when the company were designing the 1800GT Jem Marsh plonked himself in the fledgling wooden chassis while Dennis Adams and a few others shuffled bits of plywood about until it felt right. Jem being about 6'4'' was the deciding factor in the fixed seating and movable pedal box option. I sat in one at the NEC a while back, the seat was very comfortable but I'm only 5'3'' and had to wind the pedal box all the way back towards the seat!
In the late 70s, I was apprentice to a great guy. One of his close friends had a shunt in a wooden chassis Marcos, the thing fell apart and although the driver survived, he ended up in a wheel chair.

I haven't trawled back though the thread to check - but has anybody commented on the "aero" on the "C" pillars of that Talbot Horizon? What's the story there?

That was a popular accessory for many hatchbacks back in the 70's / 80's.

The idea is that they direct airflow over the back window to keep it clean.

They were very common in SA with all the gravel roads we had there - and they really did work (mostly!).

Looks like a early 70's Lincoln continental with its headlights opened. You can see the remnants of the badge on the rear picture.
