Worth saving as they're a better steer than a Jag Mk1 and they only made 800; whereabouts is it?
It's on Spring road in Ipswichhttps://www.google.com/maps/@52.0592575,1.1870331,...

If it was washed it wouldn't look too bad. Rustier wrecks have been restored. Even the tyres aren't totally flat. Standing on concrete has helped. Been there at least a decade from what i remember. But judging by the state of the house in what is a nice area my guess is it'll stay there and rot slowly for another decade. My Dad had one the same colour as that. S reg auto (yuck). He also had a T reg manual in brown (double yuck). Finally a gold manual convertible. That one received a 3.5 litre Rover V8 transplant after we sold it. According to the DVLA it was last on the road in 2015. Now showing as SORN.
My “s”” reg TR7 in 1984 was already starting to show serious rot. Lots of issues with it, gearbox, pop up light failures, windows dropping into the door etc so I sold it after 8 months. It only lasted till 1986 so it was about 9 when it was ready for the scrap heap.
My current z4 coupe is 12 years old now and mint. Not a mark on it and no probs in the 2 years I’ve had it. How things change

I had four TR7's in the 90's, a stop gap to my ultimate goal a Griffith 500, had two of those in the end but nothing like the Elise sc I've now had for ten years this May, I will die first before it is sold by my wife.
Anyway the Tr's were a 2 ltr, then a 3.5 then another 3.5, then a 3.9 fuel injected beast with a single rear pipe, t'was the devil arriving and was finished in black.
I notice a steady climb in residuals on the TR7, one to watch, DHC much better looking!

DHC better looking but the FHC is becoming sought after for competition.
Mine was a mildly tuned 3.5 V8 but it went well & handled superbly. The chassis was very advanced for it's time, the originals were quite soft for the US market but mildly modded, very competent. Mine weight 1152Kg on Dave Walkers scales, so not heavy either.

The TR7 like the Stag before it and infact most of the BL range at the time suffered from lack of time and budget for research and development, rushed in to production using any components that could be found in the BL parts bin.
We see the prices currently being fetched by Mark 1 and 2 Escorts, yet back in the day they were neither any better or any worse than vehicles being produced by there opposition it was just the massive investment Ford put in to motorsport that has made them the icon they seem to be now.

I'm certainly not the sort of person who is ever going to spend a fortune on some old Ford.We see the prices currently being fetched by Mark 1 and 2 Escorts, yet back in the day they were neither any better or any worse than vehicles being produced by there opposition it was just the massive investment Ford put in to motorsport that has made them the icon they seem to be now.

Who suggested T-195 was the sort of person to spend a fortune on some old Ford? It's outrageous making such accusations. T-195 has only just joined PH and clearly is already being accused of squandering his money. This should be a disciplinary matter.DickyC said:

He may have only just joined, but he is knocking the posts out at a rate of knots!Gassing Station | Classic Cars and Yesterday's Heroes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
