The Herald and Vauxhall estate are both MOT'd and taxed, so hardly rusting away or dying, although the Vauxhall's paint looks a bit worn ...

Any old cars of this era get on this thread though ... (not that I'm complaining) ... always good to see them.

The A35 is SORN'd and taxed also. The Bedford CA doesn't even get on the DVLA register, so long has it been off the road. Early 70s Essex, or U11 footy manager had one the same with the side windows to take us kids to our games. It had some fun going up Bread n' Cheese hill on the way to Benfleet ... chugging away like a good 'un.

A35 4 door
It's a A30 actually, all chrome grille, trafficators, 803cc engine, I had one (briefly).

A35 has body colour painted grille with chrome surround, flashing indicators front and rear, 948cc engine, larger rear screen.

So it is; a slip of the brain caused by seeing a 4 door of either.

It looks like you were more interested in the old police car. Quite rightly in my opinion. Looks 70s.

Aston that has seen better days and sitting in the open alongside A229 at Knox Bridge, Kent between Staplehurst and Sissinghurst. It sits in front of a single house called Thrift Cottage biggrin

I was passing thru, but if anyone knows more ...

If I read the DVLA site correctly, neither of them actually failed, or had any advisories at the previous MOT.

On the Aston section:

"It sold at auction 6 years ago (September 07, 2013):
https://www.classicdriver.com/en/car/aston-martin/...

Was never MOT'd again (Last was 13 August 2013)."

That Herald is a 948cc Coupe. One of the earliest around! Look for the cardboard dash and the skimpy seats inside.
Somebody loves it........ If not then I will!

The last MOT on the AM had a mileage reading of zero - so it has a mileage discrepancy flag.

This kind of thing really winds me up. Why bother buying a car at auction to let it rot in your driveway for six years.

Fair enough if the owner died but it's not a collectors car and worth a fair amount so it deserves to be taken on a weekend blast.

Even in it's current state it's worth what it sold for at auction some years ago.

The buyer probably gave up on it after several attempts at sitting in the left hand seat and reaching the steering wheel and pedals:

You'd think Bonham's would get their facts right - such as which side of the car the steering wheel is on! rolleyes

I’d buy that, I want an AM project, winds me up
It’ll just sit there rotting away and the owner will be asking £50k+ for it when it’s probably worth £20 tops.
