I wonder if that's the original site - perhaps not? I'm sure it was bigger (but I was smaller then!).

Tried googling for the car on the pole, all I can get is that it was an old Wolseley but no pictures.

The number of old Reliants, Yugos, etc. I've seen on the top of the converted shipping container "office" that fronts a breaker's yard, as their main sign, is ridiculous!
Also a good pointer to the sort of place that is likely to let you up the back to look round, and not just produce an alternator off a shelf.
I keep meaning to snap a pic of a local scrappy in Cardiff. They have a new model white mercedes SL perched on top of a container. Great pic opportunity.

I have lived in the Swanley area for the last 60 years. It was always known locally as the Car on the Stick, I think I remember my dad telling me it was a MG TF but I might be miles wrong 30's cars are not my strong point.
There was two breakers yards next to each other there LB was one and Barwicks the other both owned by two sections of the same family who I think had fallen out. I went to school with the sons but didn't really know them.
As an aside one of the sons was the first pupil to have his own car not sure how many donor cars were involved!

The 525e is very rare!...
Actually, there are a surprising number of 525e's that come up for sale on a regular basis on ebay, autotrader, classicandcar, etc., etc.

Buyers beware though - despite being a 2.7, due to their emphasis on economy, they are pretty dire cars to drive!

(I tried one years ago - In the end I bought a same age 520i manual for a similar price, which despite only being the 2.0 litre, was far more of an entertaining drive!)

I thought the guy might be keeping it due to be being some rare thing after it was noted it was the e. Obviously not!

It'll be as rotten as a pear underneath though I am sure, by now.

Let's hope that that one and the green one get back on the road at some point... wink
I nearly bought an Alfa GTV from Roger Clark at Narborough in 1983. A friend strongly recommended it, so in I went. I noticed that the N/S headlamp was already brown with rust and the car hadn't even been registered yet! I've never owned an Alfa sadly.

Meh. If we're doing trucks (and I have nothing to do with this apart from reading and admiring their work)

From a shed[1]

To looking like it did in WW1

[1] Seems a lot of old vehicles became houses, beach huts etc. Come to knock them down and there is a 90+ year old truck chassis underneath.

MOT history shows that this failed on excessive rust back in 2007 and has been limping through tests ever since with seemingly increasing issues of rot. It has sat stationary since 2012 without moving despite a fresh test every year and finally died in 2016.

I spotted this garage with a yard full of classics not being cared for in the hills between Verona and Vicenza on Friday last week

The gates were closed ,probably lunch time and the angry dog and angry proprietor sign meant all pics taken from outside the

fence.

Apologies for quality of some pics.

4th attempt at posting them too ,due to problems.

And that was the good side. Passenger side looked a real mess.
