That’s an odd one. The vast majority of the 284 RHD cars were sold in the UK. A handful went elsewhere, possibly Ireland and Singapore. All of the non UK cars would have been badged/registered as Opel Lotus Omegas. I think this is either a) one of the few non UK RHD cars, or b) a LHD (666 built) re-import from the continent which has been converted to RHD.

You will notice there is no Carlton badge on the boot and an after-market Lotus badge. This makes me pretty sure it’s an Opel (Omega) as registered. Interestingly it has side repeaters. German registered cars like my old one did not have these, but they can be retro fitted if you have a strict MOT tester.

My guess is an ex Ireland re-import in 1997.

Re the Carlton / Omega The dealer mentioned on the number plate is Cleevewood Sports cars https://www.allsportscars.co.uk/

Someone could drop them a mail with the pics - Cleevewood look like they'd know what they're talking about.

Incidentally, EU tags on the plates were a post Nov 98 legislation so presumably it was running after that date?

Surbiton? I've seen it move position around the yard but no further than that.

I haven't got a picture of it, and recently it's been covered, but there is a 6 cylinder Aston Martin DB7 near Poole Park that hasn't moved in a number of years. Sad sight indeed.

Aston that has seen better days and sitting in the open alongside A229 at Knox Bridge, Kent between Staplehurst and Sissinghurst. It sits in front of a single house called Thrift Cottage biggrin

I was passing thru, but if anyone knows more ...
I'm flabbergasted that the Aston has been left like that, it's still pretty valuable in that state. More valuable than a DB7 anyway.

No info on where and when, it was sent to me by someone on a facebook group... Lamborghini Urraco and Silhouette...

I think the white thing is a Jalpa, still a shame but not as big a tragedy as losing a rarer and better looking Silhouette.

1997.

Hasn't had its first MOT!
I would love to know the story behind that!
Here is some of it

I'm sure others might have also, but I've emailed the guy in the link anyway ... (he was asking if the car's current whereabouts were known) ...

I've directed him here.

Maybe not yet a classic (or ever!) but this old C180 was destined for the scrapper this week..
Been stood for three or so years but apparently ran fine before being parked up.
Quite a hefty advisory list on the last mot which almost certainly hasn't been seen to!
Anyway, bought it as it was cheap enough. Needs a battery so will try and get it running at the weekend.

Was it stored dry? The oily bits aren't what you need to worry about compared to the rampant propensity to rot. My local dodgy cab outfit used to have one with 300k + on the clock that ran like a Rolex but you could see through the wings....

Definitely an Elite wink

A couple more...

I'm wondering if anything like these will be at the NEC show this weekend - looking forward to going on Friday despite the high ticket price...

Dont know about the others, but I have an old superclasics magaizne from the late 80s with the same picture. A hoarder from tsomewhere in France, they were oved to another, unknown location after the auction houses cottoned on. There were several Bugattis too.

I will try and scan in more images. I hqve often wonder what happened to the hoarc. Whether they wrr finally restored/rescued, or whether they were too far gone by the end

I have it on good authority that it was stored dry despite the fact it looks like it's just been dragged out of a swamp. The green mould and algae is just a disguise to deter bell-ends from asking if it's been stored in the dry.
